- The Baltimore Ravens had three turnovers, but still managed to have a chance to tie Buffalo in their AFC Divisional Round Game.
- Andrews, who already had a drop and a fumble, couldn’t catch Lamar Jackson’s pass for a two-point conversion that would have tied the game.
- Andrews is a free agent after the 2025-26 season.
The Baltimore Ravens haven’t had much playoff success in the Lamar Jackson era, and have not won two playoff games in a postseason since winning Super 47 in 2012. They had a great chance in their road visit to Baltimore on Sunday.
However, a crucial drop by tight end Mark Andrews caused the Ravens to fail a two-point conversion. The Ravens lost 27-25 to the Bills, and now the Ravens have plenty of questions going into the offseason.
Andrews Has Tough Game, but Baltimore Has Three Turnovers as a Team
The Ravens didn’t play their best, especially offensively, but a 24-yard touchdown pass from Jackson to tight end Isaiah Likely with 1:33 remaining. That set up a chance for a two-point conversion.
However, tight end Mark Andrews couldn’t haul in Jackson’s pass, and the Bills would hold on for a 27-25 win. Jackson was furious after the game, although he took the blame instead of putting it all on Andrews.
"I'm just as hurt as Mark. [It's not] his fault. All of us played a factor in that game. It's a team effort. We're not going to put that on Mark because he's been battling all season. He's been doing all the great things he's been doing all season. It [doesn't] always go our way. We want it to, but at the moment in time, it's not going our way. We need to figure it out."
The Ravens, who were a popular play at NFL same-game parlay contests, had three turnovers on the day, including an interception and a fumble by Jackson, who had eight turnovers all season. Jackson, who is one of the top two favorites in the NFL MVP odds, along with Buffalo’s Josh Allen, didn’t have a multiple-turnover game all season until this game.
Baltimore was also a favorite in the NFL betting lines for this game after opening up as an underdog. However, the Ravens are now 3-6 in the playoffs with Jackson, and the two-time MVP would probably trade both of those awards for a trip to the Super Bowl. Buffalo will now go to Kansas City to try to stop the Chiefs’ march towards a three-peat.
Will Andrews Be Back in a Baltimore Uniform?
It was a rough end to the season for Andrews, who has often been Jackson’s most dependable target since the two joined the team in 2018. He had 55 catches for 673 yards and 11 touchdowns during the regular season, and Andrews had five catches for 61 yards against the Bills. But like Jackson, he just picked a bad time to have a poor game. The 29-year-old tight end hadn’t lost a fumble all season.
Andrews has one year left on his contract, and Likely is probably his successor at tight end. But the Ravens are backing Andrews, and he should be back in a Baltimore uniform next season. The Oklahoma alumni still has plenty to offer the Ravens, who also got some shaky play-calling from their coaching staff. Andrews had his issues, but the Ravens as a team need to figure out their postseason woes.
