Houston Rockets | +400 |
Dallas Mavericks | +500 |
Denver Nuggets | +700 |

The Golden State Warriors (-200) are favored to be Butler’s next team, according to the best NBA betting sites. At -200, the Rockets have a 66.7% implied probability of acquiring Butler. Following the Warriors are the former favorites, the Houston Rockets (+400). They have the next likeliest chance with a 20% probability of bringing the six-time All-Star to the city where Butler was born.
Another Texas team, the Dallas Mavericks (+500) have been mentioned as a possible destination with a 16.7% chance of trading for Butler. He actually went to Tyler Junior College, which is about 100 miles southeast of Dallas, and Butler used that as a springboard to get to Marquette.
However, it’s wide open now as Butler told the Heat he would go anywhere, and not just a title contender, which opens up the team’s possible trade destinations.

Jimmy Butler Offically Request Trade out of Miami
On January 2, the wheels were set in motion as Butler officially requested a trade out of Miami.
The six-time All-Star reportedly told the Heat that he was open to going anywhere, not just a title contender.
Jimmy Butler Next Team Betting Favorites
Three teams stand out as the favorites to trade for Butler. It looks like Butler has a greater chance of going to these teams:
Golden State Warriors (-200)
The Warriors are 17-16 through their first 33 games, and are currently locked in a fierce battle for a play-in spot. A move for Butler would raise their ceiling, as it would allow the Warriors to take some pressure off Stephen Curry. The two-time NBA MVP is doing his best to keep the Warriors afloat, but Curry will be 37 in March.
While Butler is no spring chicken at 35, a move to the Warriors might revitalize his love for the game. He would playing with Curry and Draymond Green, players have won four NBA titles with the Warriors. They know what it takes to win and Butler would respect that.
The Warriors have young players like Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody that could entice the Heat, and Andrew Wiggins could also get involved to make contracts work. This would drain the Warriors of their future, but they would like to squeeze as much out of Curry as possible. There are some that feel the Warriors have the best chance to get Butler, and the Jimmy Butler next team odds seems to agree with that!
Houston Rockets (+400)
The Rockets have loads of money to work with this season and in the upcoming offseason. If Butler wants a destination where he can lay down his roots past this year, the Rockets are an attractive option.
Houston has the cap room to sign Butler to an extension, and have more money to play with to improve the roster. However, is this Butler’s preferred team, and should the Rockets pull the trigger for the 35-year-old?
Butler had some definite sway in which team he is traded to. The players, especially of his caliber, often have the final word at the trade table. However, once he said he would go anywhere, Butler might have lost some leverage. I am also not convinced the Rockets are Butler’s first choice. Yes, he might be open to the idea, but there are potentially teams higher on his shortlist.
Moreover, the Rockets are a good team on the upswing and building a young foundation. Would adding an aging star make the most sense for Houston? They’re 22-11 and in third place in the Western Conference as of January 3.
I don’t suspect that there is mutual interest here. The Rockets’ front office likely wise up and stay the course and avoid trading for Butler!
Dallas Mavericks (+500)
Butler is open to playing for the Mavericks, but does the front office feel the same? When it comes to the Mavericks, they would acquire Butler in a move to add the final piece to a championship squad.
The Mavericks reached the NBA Finals last season following a 50-32 campaign. This season, the Mavericks are off to a 20-14 record and fifth in the West.
The thought process with a Butler trade would be he puts the Mavericks over the top to bypass the favored Thunder. Currently, OKC have the second-shortest NBA Championship odds and are favored to win the West. If they make the move quickly, it would also help the Mavericks while star Luka Doncic is out with a calf injury. He could be out indefinitely.
I believe the Mavericks would like to add Butler, but don’t see it as being viable. If he joins the Mavericks, the front office would run into issues when it comes to dollars and cents. Butler would put them in a tight bind and strain their depth in the future.
He isn’t a cheap asset at $48 million per season, and the Mavericks have Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson to pay, although they could part ways with the struggling Thompson. They could opt to part with pieces like Daniel Gafford and P.J. Washington, but again, Dallas would be sacrificing depth for a 35-year-old Butler, who isn’t getting any younger.
Jimmy Butler Next Team Longshot Bets
Although a longshot joining the fray to trade for Butler faces long odds, two franchises stand a decent chance. Let’s dive into our next Butler team predictions and best longshot bets:
Oklahoma City Thunder (+800)
This could be a huge move for the Thunder, who have young players and a ton of draft picks at their disposal. They could likely price anyone else out of a move for Butler. But should they?
The Thunder are 5.5 games out in front in the Western Conference, powered by the MVP-like play of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. They have a young core in Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren, among others, that have grown up together and look ready to take the next step, which is a trip to the NBA Finals.
Butler is notoriously tough on teammates, and that could ruin the camaraderie this team has built over the last few seasons. I’m putting them in here simply because of all the assets they could send to the Heat. However, I think general manager Sam Presti is content to stay put and see what this team could do, especially with an extension to Butler on the table.
Phoenix Suns (+1100)
Butler has reportedly claimed he would be open to a trade to Phoenix. Additionally, the Suns are interested in trading for Butler and creating a Big 4 alongside Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal, and Devin Booker.
This strategy hasn’t worked for several other teams, including the Suns, who brought Durant, Beal, and Booker together for a Big 3. Adding Butler doesn’t fix their depth, but the Suns’ front office loves signing marquee names and hoping the chemistry is there.
You would think that Beal would have to go to Miami to make salaries match (Durant and Booker are definitely off the table), but are the Heat even interested in Beal? He’s a very good player when he’s healthy, but that’s a huge “when”. The former Washington Wizard hasn’t played more than 60 games in a season since 2019. The Heat would be basically getting another version of Butler, who has had his own injury problems in recent years.
Nevertheless, considering Butler and the Suns allegedly both have interest, this bet is worth a look at the generous odds of +1100!
Jimmy Butler Next Team Prediction and Betting Pick
Although I don’t see it as a great move, the Warriors will go all-in before blowing this roster up. They aren’t giving up on winning one more championship in the Curry era. If the Warriors don’t show interest in improving the roster, they might have a disgruntled future Hall of Famer on their hands in Curry.
Trading for Butler keeps their franchise player happy, and provides the Warriors with a glimmer of hope in competing for another title. After this experiment, the Warriors have to think about blowing things up. In any case, don’t count the Warriors out yet, and trading for Butler gives them another outlet to stay relevant.
It isn’t great betting value, but I think the Warriors are the best bet to be Butler’s next team at -200 odds!
