Jimmy Butler Next Team Betting Odds and Predictions

Golden State Warriors (-200)

The Warriors are 17-16 through their first 33 games, and are currently locked in a fierce battle for a play-in spot. A move for Butler would raise their ceiling, as it would allow the Warriors to take some pressure off Stephen Curry. The two-time NBA MVP is doing his best to keep the Warriors afloat, but Curry will be 37 in March.

While Butler is no spring chicken at 35, a move to the Warriors might revitalize his love for the game. He would playing with Curry and Draymond Green, players have won four NBA titles with the Warriors. They know what it takes to win and Butler would respect that.

The Warriors have young players like Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody that could entice the Heat, and Andrew Wiggins could also get involved to make contracts work. This would drain the Warriors of their future, but they would like to squeeze as much out of Curry as possible. There are some that feel the Warriors have the best chance to get Butler, and the Jimmy Butler next team odds seems to agree with that!

Houston Rockets (+400)

The Rockets have loads of money to work with this season and in the upcoming offseason. If Butler wants a destination where he can lay down his roots past this year, the Rockets are an attractive option.

Houston has the cap room to sign Butler to an extension, and have more money to play with to improve the roster. However, is this Butler’s preferred team, and should the Rockets pull the trigger for the 35-year-old?

Butler had some definite sway in which team he is traded to. The players, especially of his caliber, often have the final word at the trade table. However, once he said he would go anywhere, Butler might have lost some leverage. I am also not convinced the Rockets are Butler’s first choice. Yes, he might be open to the idea, but there are potentially teams higher on his shortlist.

Moreover, the Rockets are a good team on the upswing and building a young foundation. Would adding an aging star make the most sense for Houston? They’re 22-11 and in third place in the Western Conference as of January 3.

I don’t suspect that there is mutual interest here. The Rockets’ front office likely wise up and stay the course and avoid trading for Butler!

Dallas Mavericks (+500)

Butler is open to playing for the Mavericks, but does the front office feel the same? When it comes to the Mavericks, they would acquire Butler in a move to add the final piece to a championship squad.

The Mavericks reached the NBA Finals last season following a 50-32 campaign. This season, the Mavericks are off to a 20-14 record and fifth in the West.

The thought process with a Butler trade would be he puts the Mavericks over the top to bypass the favored Thunder. Currently, OKC have the second-shortest NBA Championship odds and are favored to win the West. If they make the move quickly, it would also help the Mavericks while star Luka Doncic is out with a calf injury. He could be out indefinitely.

I believe the Mavericks would like to add Butler, but don’t see it as being viable. If he joins the Mavericks, the front office would run into issues when it comes to dollars and cents. Butler would put them in a tight bind and strain their depth in the future.

He isn’t a cheap asset at $48 million per season, and the Mavericks have Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson to pay, although they could part ways with the struggling Thompson. They could opt to part with pieces like Daniel Gafford and P.J. Washington, but again, Dallas would be sacrificing depth for a 35-year-old Butler, who isn’t getting any younger.
