- Adam Sandler confirmed in July 2024 that there would be a sequel to the 1996 classic, Happy Gilmore.
- There have been theories on which pro golfers or celebrities would make an appearance in Happy Gilmore 2.
- Sandler confirmed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce would have at least a cameo in the movie.
It has been over 28 years since the release of Happy Gilmore, the Adam Sandler golf film that had a budget of $12 million, and brought in over $41 million. With numbers like this, it’s a surprise that it has taken this long for a sequel to get off the ground.
However, Happy Gilmore 2 was confirmed this year by Sandler, and he made a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to talk about the film. He also confirmed a guest appearance from a celebrity that we actually picked in our article on the Happy Gilmore 2 betting odds!
Travis Kelce Will Make an Appearance in Happy Gilmore 2
Travis Kelce said on his podcast, “New Heights”, that he would love to be in Happy Gilmore 2, even claiming that he would be an extra just to be involved. You could have bet on a Travis Kelce appearance in Happy Gilmore 2 at +500 at Bovada, which I recommended back in July. Kelce now has the connections to make that happen, due in large part to his relationship with Taylor Swift, the world’s biggest pop star.
It has been a massive year for Kelce, whose day job is the tight end for the two-time defending Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs. He won the title with the Chiefs in February, and Kansas City is once again a favorite at NFL betting sites. Kelce has also been following Swift around the world on her record-breaking Eras Tour. The Athletic wrote an article on his rising star earlier this week.
But Kelce is also an avid golfer, and he usually plays in the American Century Championship, a celebrity golf tournament, with Kansas City teammate Patrick Mahomes. This year, Kelce played with his brother Jason, with whom he does the “New Heights” podcast. Jason Kelce also retired from the NFL this year after playing all 11 of his seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Kelces made history at Super Bowl LVII, becoming the first set of brothers to meet in the big game on opposing teams. Travis’ Chiefs edged out Jason’s Eagles by a score of 38-35.
There is no doubt that Travis’ rising celebrity got him a role in Happy Gilmore 2, along with his surprisingly good job hosting Saturday Night Live in March 2023. It appears that Travis is going to have a great post-football career in media, one way or another.
But Travis is currently back with the Chiefs, getting ready to try to become the first team in the Super Bowl era to complete a three-peat as champions.
Kelce was also a part of the best highlight of the preseason, when he allegedly ran the wrong route, so Mahomes threw the ball to him behind his back.
Who Else Will Be in Happy Gilmore 2?
As for the rest of the cameos, Sandler didn’t reveal any others when he went on The Tonight Show. However, he did mention that many pro golfers have reached out to him without dropping any names. But most of the top golfers in the world are right around that age where they would have watched Happy Gilmore many times when it was on cable. You can expect to see some top golfers in this movie (we’re looking at you, Bryson DeChambeau).
You can also bet on whether Happy Gilmore 2 will have a Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and other markets. You have plenty of time as Sandler claimed they were just about to start filming, so the movie, which will be released on Netflix, should come out some time in 2025.
