Brock Purdy Odds

  • According to BetOnline, Brock Purdy is the new betting favorite to win the NFL MVP award.
  • Purdy’s odds catapulted to the top after the 49ers dismantled the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football.
  • The 49ers have the best odds to win Super Bowl 58 at online betting sites.

There is a new favorite to win the 2023-24 NFL MVP award. According to BetOnline’s NFL MVP odds, San Francisco 49ers’ QB Brock Purdy has the best odds to win. Currently, Purdy is +400 to win the NFL’s MVP award.

At +400, Purdy has an implied chance of 20 percent to be named NFL MVP. Purdy is followed closely by the Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes has +425 odds to win NFL MVP honors at BetOnline.

There are some sports betting sites that still have Mahomes listed as the betting favorite. However, the 49ers’ 42-10 win over the Cowboys had more of an impact with BetOnline oddsmakers.

Purdy was an afterthought heading into this season by the betting public. At +3500 odds, Purdy was a longshot to win the MVP award. Yet, there was significant value on Purdy as these were the 13th-best odds to win NFL MVP.

From Mr. Irrelevant To NFL MVP Favorite

Purdy was selected with the final pick of the 2022 NFL Draft. In Week 6 of his second NFL season, Purdy is now the favorite to win the MVP of the NFL.

The 23-year-old native of Queen Creek, Arizona, has been in the starting role for less than a year. On December 4, 2023, Purdy assumed the reins of the offense after Jimmy Garoppolo went down with an ankle injury against the Miami Dolphins.

Purdy entered the game cold off the bench and led the 49ers to a 33-17 victory. The concern at the time was how quickly Garoppolo could return to the field. After it was discovered that Garoppolo had a broken ankle, the keys of the offense were given to Purdy.

Despite losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game, it might have been a different scenario if Purdy didn’t suffer an elbow injury. Purdy’s throwing arm was deemed useless, as he couldn’t put any zip on the ball.

In 2023, Purdy has passed for 1,271 yards, nine touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Purdy is second in the NFL with a completion percentage of 72.1% through five games. In 10 regular season starts, Purdy has 23 touchdowns and just three turnovers.

The 49ers most certainly made the right decision by choosing Purdy over Trey Lance. Now, it is hard to believe that there was a QB battle between the two. Lance, the third overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, was traded to the Cowboys after Purdy won the QB1 job.

Currently, the 49ers are favored to win Super Bowl 58 at BetOnline. The blowout over the Cowboys has resulted in the 49ers being the clear favorite at +325. With +600 Super Bowl odds, the Chiefs are a distant second behind the 49ers.

Christian McCaffrey Favorite To Win NFL Offensive Player of the Year

McCaffrey entered the season with the third-best odds to win the 2023-24 NFL Offensive Player of the Year award at +1400. His NFL Offensive Player of the Year odds have skyrocketed from +1400 to +175.

The dynamic running back is worth mentioning in relation to Purdy. McCaffrey has been one of the reasons why the QB is having a lot of success. In his first full season with the 49ers, McCaffrey has run for 510 yards and 7 touchdowns on 5.2 yards per carry.

Additionally, the former Stanford Cardinal has recorded 20 receptions for 168 yards and a touchdown as a pass catcher. The presence of McCaffrey, along with Deebo Samuel and George Kittle, is a major asset to Purdy’s NFL MVP campaign.

A non-QB winning the NFL MVP award has been unprecedented over the last decade. Adrian Peterson, in 2012, is the last player to win the NFL MVP that wasn’t a QB. At +2000 odds, McCaffrey has an implied probability of 4.8 percent to win the NFL MVP.

While it is going to be difficult to find enough votes to win MVP, the NFL Offensive Player of the Year award is McCaffrey’s to lose. If Purdy and McCaffrey remain in this form, both might be celebrating with the Vince Lombardi Trophy in Las Vegas in four months.
