Resorts World Hudson Valley Coming Soon

  • Resorts World Hudson Valley has set its opening date to December 28, 2022.
  • The Genting-owned casino features 1,200 slot machines, electronic table games, and a sports bar.
  • Located at the Newburgh Mall, it is approximately 44 miles away from Genting’s other casino Resorts Word Catskill in Sullivan County.

After missing its initial target to open this fall, Resorts World Hudson Valley is now set to launch on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., according to a company announcement last Monday.

Located in Orange County at the Newburgh Mall just 60 miles off Manhattan, the casino is being touted to revitalize the mall while also creating new jobs and plenty of economic activity in the area.

In a statement, Genting Americas East President Robert DeSalvio said:

“Resorts World Hudson Valley represents a shared vision that we, along with our partners in Orange County, had to create an entertainment destination that will attract hundreds of thousands of guests and visitors, while providing tremendous benefits to the local, regional and statewide community. We are delighted to open our doors this holiday season and welcome everyone.”

Resorts World Hudson Valley is a 50,000-square-foot casino that will replace the former Bon-Ton Department Store inside Newburgh Mall in Newburgh, New York. The casino will feature 1,200 slot machines, table games, and sports betting.

It will feature the company’s signature Bar360 which will have a 360-degree view of the casino. The sports bar will be branded as the Resorts World Bet Sports Bar and will show sporting events on a ring of 8 overhead TV sets while encouraging patrons to place bets using their phones by using the company’s Resorts World App.

Resorts World Brining Dollars to Hudson Valley

The opening of Resorts World Hudson Valley is set to create an estimated 250 new full-time jobs with an average annual wage of $72,000, including salaries and benefits. It also employed 250 workers during its construction phase, while spending $50 million in total expenses, up from its original estimate of $32 million.

Additionally, the casino is expected to contribute an estimated $65 million in taxes every year to support New York’s public schools. To date, Resorts World properties across the Empire State have contributed more than $3.6 billion to support public schools in New York.

Casino owner Genting also says that the casino will provide a “halo effect” to the Newburgh Mall where it is located. According to the company, it plays a key role in the mall’s revitalization plan to benefit its current tenants and attract new ones.

Resorts World Hudson Valley is the company’s third gambling destination in New York, after Resorts World Catskill in Montecillo and Resorts World New York City in Queens. Across its three NY properties, Genting has invested more than $1.2 billion.

44 Miles Away From Resorts World Catskill

The Newburgh Mall site, which is located on Route 300 near Interstate 84 and 87, would be an estimated 44 miles away from Genting’s other property, Resorts World Catskill in Sullivan County. Built on the former Concord Hotel, the Catskill casino has a gaming area of 65,000 square feet with over 2,150 slot machines, 112 table games, and an 18-story hotel with 332 suites.

Resorts World Catskill is operated by Empire Resorts, a subsidiary of the Malaysian-based Genting Group. Empire also has a subsidiary called Montecillo Raceway Management, which operates the Montecillo Raceway and Casino, also in Sullivan County.

That 230-acre property has one of the largest all-weather horse racing courses in the United States. Montecillo has a gaming compound that has 1,110 VGMs, and 40 electronic table game positions on 45,000 square feet of space, with a separate area for high-limit gamblers.

Meanwhile, Genting isn’t just a gaming and entertainment company. The Kuala Lumpur-based group is also engaged in property development, plantation, life sciences, biotechnology, oil and gas, e-commerce, energy, and information technology.
