- Kelce and his brother, Jason, just signed a deal for their podcast, “New Heights”, with Amazon’s Wondery that is worth over $100 million.
- Kelce then bought a stake in a racehorse named Swift Delivery with the Zoldan family, who also had a stake in 2011 Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom.
While Week 1 NFL picks are getting made at NFL betting sites, Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs has been busy off the field. The star tight end has had Adam Sandler confirm that Kelce will play a role in Happy Gilmore 2.
Then on Tuesday, August 27, Variety reported that Travis and brother Jason signed a new deal with Amazon’s Wondery for their podcast, “New Heights”. Later that day, it was also announced that Travis was buying a stake in a racehorse named Swift Delivery.
Travis and Jason Kelce Take Amazon’s Wondery to “New Heights”
Travis and Jason Kelce started the “New Heights” podcast in September 2022, and it immediately took off. It rose up the charts on Spotify and Apple, and was “Sports Podcast of the Year” by Sports Illustrated. In 2024, it has been named “Podcast of the Year” by iHeartMedia, and it won “Best Sports Podcast” at The Podcast Academy, along with victory at the Shorty Awards.
Why did Wondery, Amazon’s podcast arm, decide to give Travis and Jason a three-year deal worth over $100 million, reported by Variety? For moments like this, when Travis and Jason revealed what the two said to each other after Super Bowl LVII, when Travis’ Chiefs’ edged Jason’s Philadelphia Eagles by a score of 38-35.
And of course, Travis can always call on his relationship with Taylor Swift for content. Swift, who is still on the Eras Tour, has yet to make an appearance on “New Heights”.
But it’s also a great look into the relationship between the brothers. Jason is 36, and Travis is 34, and they’re very close. Jason also delved into his decision to retire from the NFL in March 2024, and we’ve also gotten to know his wife, Kylie, and their three daughters, Wyatt (turning five in October), Elliott (three), and Bennett (one).
“New Heights” is only getting more popular, and it was a great move on a part of everyone involved to get this deal done. Now, Travis, who signed a $34.25 million deal over two years in May, doesn’t have to touch his NFL player salary. Also, in terms of the Happy Gilmore 2 cameo Adam Sandler confirmed on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Sandler is the guest on the Season 3 premiere of “New Heights”.
Is Swift Delivery Tied to Taylor Swift?
But Travis wasn’t done. The younger Kelce then bought a stake in a racehorse named Swift Delivery.
It was first reported by ESPN that Kelce purchased the stake with the Zoldan family, as Kelce is friends with Alex Zoldan, the son of Bruce Zoldan. The Zoldan family had a stake in the 2011 Kentucky Derby winner, Animal Kingdom. Kelce was also seen with the Zoldan family at this year’s Kentucky Derby.
The ESPN report also states that it’s not clear if the horse’s named is connected to Swift, or whether it’s a coincidence or not. However, you have to think that the name was a major contributing factor to Kelce buying an interest in the horse, which was not a potential Swift-Kelce betting prop at online sportsbooks.
Kelce is now set to give the Chiefs his full attention in his 11th season. The Chiefs are favored by Super Bowl 59 odds to become the first team ever to three-peat as champions. If they do that, the “New Heights” episode following that would be epic!
