If you were expecting Will Smith to announce a new girlfriend after Jada Pinkett Smith’s reveal, the odds are not in your favor. According to Bovada, Smith has +500 odds of announcing he has a new girlfriend.
Pinkett Smith’s bombshell revelation came on an NBC primetime special on October 13.
The novelty betting odds were released in the midst of Pinkett Smith’s shocking news that they have not been together since 2016. In her new book, Worthy, Pinkett Smith revealed that their 25-year relationship came to an end seven years ago.
Despite being separated since 2016, oddsmakers do not believe that Smith will have a new girlfriend in 2023. Or, at the least, the odds do not support Smith publicly announcing that he is in a relationship with another person.
For the wager to cash at +500, Smith must reveal that he has a new significant other to the public. The betting odds afford Smith an implied probability of just 16.7 percent to make an announcement.
Will Smith Shocked Over Memoir
Speaking for the first time in reaction to Worthy, Smith claimed that he was shocked and heartbroken while reading the book. In his first public comments regarding the memoir, the Fresh Prince of Bel Air star wrote a letter to British podcaster Jay Shetty.
Shetty read the letter to Pinkett Smith on his podcast “On Purpose”.
“I just turned the final page of Worthy”, said Smith. “It is amazing to realize that despite having lived most of my life by your side, I still found myself shocked and stunned and caught off guard, laughing, then inspired, then heartbroken. I was all over the place.”
Smith largely applauded Pinkett Smith, with no ill feelings towards her for publishing the memoir. In fact, it is worth noting that the couple are not legally divorced. While they have been living separate lives since 2016, legally, the couple are still married.
On the October 16 episode of NBC’s TODAY, Pinkett Smith claimed that she and Smith are working hard to reconcile and “heal their relationship”.
“There’s no divorce on paper. We really have been working hard. That’s the whole thing. We are working very hard at bringing our relationship together. Back to a life partnership.”
The memoir, which is scheduled to be available on October 17, includes a number of other bombshells. Pinkett Smith has never gone into depth regarding her close relationship with Tupac, but she described him as her “soul mate” in the book.
Janelle Monae Favored As Smith’s Next Relationship
The 55-year-old actor has mostly kept out of the spotlight after slapping Chris Rock at the 94th Academy Awards in 2022. Even prior to the incident, Smith was able to keep the separation from his wife a secret.
Despite possibly dating other people, there has been no public acknowledgement. On the contrary, Pinkett Smith was tied to August Alsina in 2020.
In a July 2020 interview, the 31-year-old claimed that he was in a relationship with Pinkett Smith, which he had his blessing from her husband. Pinkett Smith described the relationship as an “entanglement”.
However, Smith has never been public about having a new relationship with another person. If he does decide to publicly announce a relationship in 2023, oddsmakers are pointing to Janelle Monae.
At +800 odds, Monae has the best odds of becoming Smith’s next significant other. Following Monae, Garcelle Beauvais has the second-best odds at +1500. In other words, there isn’t much confidence from Bovada oddsmakers regarding this prop bet.
The 37-year-old singer, songwriter, and actress has known the couple for years and appeared on Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk in the past.
In 2022, Monae came out as non-binary to Pinkett Smith on the show. Additionally, Monae was candid about her struggles with abandonment and her father’s drug addiction.
Pinkett Smith’s husband and Monae have not been romantically linked in the past. Nevertheless, she has the best odds out of a list that includes Gisele, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, and Kerry Washington.
Washington, Gabrielle Union, Jennifer Aniston, and Naomi Watts have the worst odds of becoming Smith’s next significant other.
