Shortly after acquiring the property for $1.3 billion, the Poarch Creek tribe announced that they will be spending $160 million to expand the casino resort. The first phase of the project was to add over 200 rooms via a new hotel tower and the addition of 42,000 square feet of convention space.
Also included in Phase 1 was the construction of a 23,000-square-foot main ballroom that would accommodate 500 guests in a function like a wedding. Wind Creek is also building The Spa at Wind Creek at the expansion tower and is slated to open in early 2023. Construction of the expansion was supposed to finish sometime in 2021 but supply chain issues, labor shortages, and the effects of the pandemic have delayed the completion of the project.
Although they do not have a timetable for it yet, the second phase of the Wind Creek Bethlehem expansion is a $250 million adventure and water park project at the historic No. 2 Machine Shop. Wind Creek last announced that it is still looking for a development partner for the 300,000-square-foot attraction which the casino projects will lure an additional 1.4 million guests per year.
