It is a good time to look at the PGA golf major odds for the 2023 season. Have you been looking for the odds of a PGA golfer winning a major in 2023? TheSportsGeek is going over the 2023 PGA Tour major betting odds, along with our PGA golf 2023 predictions.
The first major tournament of the season is scheduled for April at Augusta National in Georgia. The Masters is the most prestigious golf tournament in the world. The 2023 edition of the Masters is set to run from April 6, 2023, to April 9, 2023.
And, if you were wondering, LIV golfers will be able to participate in the 2023 Masters tournament. There was some speculation before the organizers at the Masters officially announced that LIV golfers can play in 2023.
There is some back-and-forth to whether it is right or wrong, but we want to see the best golfers in the world at the Masters. If this is what you want, too, then it is hard to disagree with the decision. The other debate regarding LIV Golf is if their players should be awarded OWGR points.
A LIV golfer did not win a major last year. That would have been a nightmare to the PGA Tour, as well as to Rory McIlroy, who is the biggest critic of LIV on the PGA Tour. McIlroy did not win a major in 2022, either.
2022 PGA Tour Major Winners
Before handicapping the 2023 PGA golf major odds, let’s take a second to look back at who won the major golf championships on the PGA Tour last year. Being the best golfer throughout a season does not guarantee a major. Paging McIlroy.

- 2022 Masters – Scottie Scheffler beat McIlroy by three strokes at Augusta National last year. McIlroy had a fantastic final day on Sunday, but his -8 in Round 4 was not enough to catch Scheffler. Scheffler held on for a final score of -10 over McIlroy’s -7.
- 2022 PGA Championship – A month later in May, Justin Thomas and Will Zalatoris went to a playoff at Southern Hills in Tulsa. Thomas was able to win the second major of his career after hitting some clutch shots in the playoff.
- 2022 US Open – Zalatoris came close again, this time at the US Open in Brookline, Massachusetts. He fell a shot behind Matt Fitzpatrick for the win. Fitzpatrick edged out Zalatoris and Scheffler by a stroke for his first major.
- 2022 British Open – The Open at St. Andrews was the final major of the year. Australian, Cameron Smith, won the Open at -20 over Cameron Young at -19 and McIlroy’s -18. Following the win, Smith soon after departed the PGA Tour for LIV Golf.
2023 PGA Golf Major Odds
Which golfers do you have winning a major championship in 2023? If you are confident in a golfer having a big season, then it might be wise to consider betting on them to win a major this year.
Every golfer on the PGA golf major odds board is getting plus money to win just one major. There is excellent value to be had with these PGA Tour future majors bets. The value could be gone by April, so it is important to get your bets in sooner rather than later.

We are providing a handful of golfers that should be good bets to consider in 2023. Naturally, we have to get into Tiger Woods’ chances at winning a major this year. There is always a lot of interest in how Tiger will perform.
His odds have not provided the best value in recent majors. Tiger will attract money regardless of the golf odds, so sportsbooks can get away with offering less than the best prices.
Rory McIlroy is the favorite on the PGA golf major odds board. He is the most likely golfer to win a major according to the oddsmakers. Should we be scared off because McIlroy has not won a major since 2014?
Following McIlroy at +225, Jon Rahm is the next likeliest to win a major at +275. Cameron Smith, Justin Thomas, and Scottie Scheffler at +350 round out the top-5. Let’s take a look at the PGA golf major odds going into the 2023 season.

PGA Golfer Winning A Major
For our PGA golf 2023 predictions, we are handicapping the odds of which PGA golfer winning a major is the most likely this year. This PGA prop bet is simple. Select which golfer(s) you believe will win a major in 2023.
Along with betting the odds to win a major in 2023, you can bet on the individual majors. This is going to be more difficult, but the odds are going to be better. TheSportsGeek will have our odds analysis and predictions for all four majors in 2023, so stay tuned.
Rory McIlroy (+225)
McIlroy is at the top of the PGA golf major odds board for 2022. Despite not winning a major last year, he won his third FedEx Cup Championship. That was some kind of wizardry from McIlroy to come all the way back in the Cup Playoffs.
He went into the 2022 Tour Championship with a shot disadvantage, but clawed all the way back to overtake Scottie Scheffler.
McIlroy has a good chance of winning his fourth FedEx Cup in 2023. The native of Northern Ireland had a lot of success, though it did not result in a major win.
McIlroy did about everything he could have to win a major. He finished 2nd at the Masters and 3rd at the British Open. Those were both good enough efforts to win, though apparently not.

He was the leader or close to the top in many significant golf metrics last season. McIlroy had the best scoring average at 67.268 per tournament. There was not another driver on the PGA Tour that came close to matching him, and he was first in SG: Tee-to-Green and SG: Total.
If McIlroy wins the 2023 Masters, he will complete the Grand Slam of golf. He has won the three other majors, but does not have a green jacket. This could be the year.
With four opportunities to end the major drought in 2023, we are betting on him to do it at +225.
Tony Finau (+400)
Are you looking for a bet that offers a bit stronger value? There are five golfers with better odds to win a major than Tony Finau. We are not so sure about that.
Finau should probably have the same odds as Cameron Smith, Justin Thomas, and Scottie Scheffler to win a major in 2023. He was one of the most consistent and improved players on the PGA Tour last year.
He won a total of three tournaments — including back-to-back wins in the 3M Open and Rocket Mortgage Classic. There were just three other golfers that won three PGA events in 2022.
Finau went through a cold spell from 2016 to 2021. He did not win a tournament, but finally won, and used that momentum to be one of the best golfers on the PGA Tour last year.
The 33-year-old American is showing no signs of slowing down. Just last month at the Houston Open, Finau won another tournament. He is one of the most confident players on the PGA Tour going into 2023 and must be considered at +400 to win a major.
Patrick Cantlay (+500)
Is it not time for Patrick Cantlay to win a major in 2023? The 2021 PGA Tour Player of the Year has a lot of accolades on his resume throughout his career. However, the 30-year-old is still searching for his first major.
Finding success at majors has been one knack of Cantlay in his career. That being said, it is not like he has not been good in big golf tournaments. Only recently to close out the 2022 season, Cantlay had a big win at the 2022 FedEx Cup Playoffs.
Patrick Cantlay became the first player to win the same event in the FedExCup Playoffs in back-to-back years at the BMW Championship today.

Cantlay won the BMW Championship by a stroke over Scott Stallings in August. His FedEx Cup rank went from 7th to 2nd with the win at Wilmington Country Club. This was his eighth win on the PGA Tour.
He is one of the best putters on the PGA Tour going into the 2023 season. Cantlay ranks first in this regard after finishing T2 at the Shriners Children’s Open in Las Vegas.
The highest-ranked golfer on the PGA Tour without a major at +500 is one of the best value bets to win in 2023.
Sam Burns (+700)
For somewhat of a longshot PGA golfer winning a major in 2023, consider betting on Sam Burns at these odds. The best may not have arrived for Burns in his career yet.
That is saying a lot for a guy that is coming off three PGA titles in 2022. Burns won the Charles Schwab Challenge, Valspar Championship, and Sanderson Farms Championship.
Sam Burns entered the day 7 shots behind Scottie Scheffler before coming back to win the Charles Schwab Challenge in a playoff.

He has moved up to 13th in the OWGR following a strong 2022 campaign. Burns was not at his best in majors last year, including missing the cut at the 2022 Masters.
That said, he is learning how to win and it could rub off on him at the major tournaments in 2023. Burns is worth betting at +700 or better.
Will Tiger Woods Win A Major In 2023?
We are pulling for Tiger to push back the clocks and win a major in 2023. That said, he recently was unable to participate in the World Hero Challenge because of the pain from walking.
He did play in the Match 7 event in Florida, but Tiger was able to use a golf cart to get around. That was one of the primary reasons for him playing that event. It is unlikely that Tiger can find the fountain of youth in 2023.

Tiger’s odds are usually never good value. This is another case of bad value Tiger’s odds to win a major in 2023. The oddsmakers have Tiger at +1200 to win a major in 2023.
We need something closer to +2000 to even consider wagering on Tiger Woods. Corey Conners at +1600 is stronger value than Tiger in 2023. So, in our opinion, no, Tiger Woods will not win a major in 2023.
