2024 Presidents Cup Odds — Can International Team Get First Win Since 1998?

2024 Presidents Cup Odds — Can International Team Get First Win Since 1998?

The 2024 Presidents Cup odds reflect the dominance that Team USA has had in this event, which started in 1994. The Americans have won 12 and tied once in 14 Presidents Cup starts, with the International team winning in Australia in 1998.

This year’s event will be held at Royal Montreal Golf Club in Montreal, Canada, between September 26-29. Can the International team take advantage of the support of the “home” crowd?

I closely examine the Presidents Cup betting odds for this event and share my predictions for all available markets!

Presidents Cup 2024 Outcome Odds and Prediction

Let’s tee off by looking at the Presidents Cup outcome odds, where a tie is possible. It happened at the 2003 Presidents Cup in South Africa. Captains Jack Nicklaus (USA) and Gary Player (International) chose to end the event in a tie at 17-17 as Tiger Woods and Ernie Els were tied after three playoff holes.

Here’s what the best golf betting sites expect this year:

TEAM/RESULTODDS
USA to Win-250
International to Win+250
Tie+1400

Team USA are big favorites at Bovada to win the Presidents Cup for the 10th consecutive time. The United States is, once again, loaded. The #1 player in the world, Scottie Scheffler, leads the way after winning the FedEx Cup and the Olympic gold medal. Captain Jim Furyk can lean on a team where all 12 players are in the top 25 of the Official World Golf Rankings.

The highest-ranked International player is Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama, who is seventh in the world. Then you have Australia’s Adam Scott at #17, and Sungjae Im at +30. International captain Mike Weir can also count on South Korea’s Tom Kim, while Canadians Corey Conners, Taylor Pendrith, and Mackenzie Hughes will try to get the crowd behind them.

However, the Americans are just too good from top to bottom. If Team USA brings its best game, this event could be over by the time we get to the Sunday singles matches. The gap in quality is too big to ignore, so getting -250 for the much better team is the bet here.

Presidents Cup 2024 to Lift Trophy Odds

TEAMODDS
USA-350
Internationals+250

The difference with this market is that the tie is not an option, and all wagers are pushed if that’s the final outcome. This provides extra insurance for your wagers but eats up a lot of the value.

Still, the odds for the International team are the same, so if you’re going to back the underdog, you should go for this option.

If you want to back team USA, you should stick to the previous market because you give up too much betting value to cover the tie. That’s why I can’t recommend a Presidents Cup betting pick for this market.

Presidents Cup 2024 Top USA Points Scorer Odds and Prediction

Next, let’s take a look at the market for top USA points scorer:

PLAYERODDS
Scottie Scheffler+450
Xander Schauffele+500
Collin Morikawa+600
Patrick Cantlay+650
Sam Burns+900
Wyndham Clark+900
Max Homa+1000
Brian Harman+1400
Sahith Theegala+1400
Tony Finau+2000
Keegan Bradley+2500
Russell Henley+3000

It should come as no surprise that the 2024 Presidents Cup odds for this market have the top two players in the world favored, and three of the top four. Scheffler (+450) won the Masters and Olympic gold this year, while Schauffele (+500) won the PGA Championship and the Open Championship. Collin Morikawa (+600), ranked fourth, finished in the top 16 of all four majors.

If you’re looking for dark horses, Max Homa’s +1000 looks tasty. Homa’s four points at the last President Cup was the best among all players. His 3.5 points were easily the best for the United States at the Ryder Cup, where the Americans were trounced by Europe.

However, Homa has been slumping badly since May. In ten starts since a T8 at the Wells Fargo Championship, Homa’s best finish is a T22 at the Memorial, and he has missed three cuts.

I’m going to recommend Patrick Cantlay (+650). Cantlay and Schauffele are very close off the golf course, and are the Americans’ most reliable pairing. The two have been paired together seven times, second in US Presidents Cup history behind Fred Couples and Davis Love III. They’ve picked up four points, and they dominate foursomes, which is when the pairing alternate shots.

Cantlay was Team USA’s second-best player behind Homa at the 2023 Ryder Cup with two points. He is also a perfect 4-0-0 in singles matches in international play since going pro. The value is definitely on Cantlay here at the juice price of +650.

Patrick Cantlay

Presidents Cup Betting Odds and Pick for Top International Points Scorer

We’ll move to the next tee box and analyze the Presidents Cup betting odds for the top International points scorer:

PLAYERODDS
Sungjae Im+600
Hideki Matsuyama+700
Adam Scott+750
Tom Kim+750
Corey Conners+800
Si Woo Kim+900
Christian Bezuidenhout+1000
Jason Day+1000
Mackenzie Hughes+1200
Min Woo Lee+1400
Taylor Pendrith+1400
Byeong Hun An+1600

South Korea’s Sungjae Im (+600) finished the season strong with a T-11 and T-7 in the final two FedEx Cup events. Matsuyama (+700) won the St. Jude Championship, then withdrew from the BMW Championship, and finished ninth at the Tour Championship. You just never know how healthy the 2021 Masters Champions is, but when he’s on, Matsuyama is one of the very best players in the world.

Adam Scott (+750) is making his 11th appearance at the Presidents Cup, so the Aussie has plenty of experience. Scott also finished T-18 or better in each of his last five starts, including three finishes inside the top four. Tom Kim (+750) burst on the scene at the 2022 Presidents Cup, picking up two points for his team.

Corey Conner (+800) will be hoping for a better performance than his 2022 debut, where he lost all four matches, although he took Schauffele to the 18th hole in their singles match. I would love to include Jason Day (+1000) in my International dark horses, but he has been spotty all season. Maybe take a look at Mackenzie Hughes (+1200). The Canadian struggled for most of the year, but he just finished T-4 at the Procore Championship.

I’m going to take a little value and go with Scott to lean on his experience and try to lead the International team to a win. He won’t be scared to go up against anyone on the American team.

The Bet
Adam Scott

Presidents Cup 2024 Top Overall Points Scorer Odds and Top Pick

Finally, let’s finish off with a look at top overall points scorer in these Presidents Cup betting odds:

PLAYERODDS
Scottie Scheffler+650
Xander Schauffele+700
Collin Morikawa+900
Patrick Cantlay+1000
Sam Burns+1200
Wyndham Clark+1200
Max Homa+1400
Sungjae Im+1400
Hideki Matsuyama+1600
Adam Scott+1800
Tom Kim+1800

Based on my previously picks, the options are either Patrick Cantlay (+1000) or Adam Scott (+1800). Cantlay actually beat Scott 3&2 (three holes up with only two to go) in Sunday singles in 2022. Cantlay and Schauffele smashed Scott and Matsuyama 6&5 in the opening foursomes match to kick off the event.

Cantlay loves playing in these events, and while he didn’t have the best 2024 PGA season by his standards, he still made it to the finale at East Lake. Most importantly, his odds makes him very enticing. Let’s finish off these 2024 Presidents Cup betting picks with Patrick Cantlay for overall top scorer.

The Bet
Patrick Cantlay
