The 2024-2025 NBA Rookie of the Year odds don’t have a superstar at the top of the list. However, you should consider multiple players for your predictions, as they should impact their team in their maiden NBA season.
I’ll take a look at these ROY odds for the NBA, giving you analysis on the favorites, along with some sleepers to check out. You’ll also get my NBA betting pick for Rookie of the Year at the end!
2024-25 Odds to win NBA Rookie of the Year

San Antonio’s Stephon Castle (-750) continues to rule the NBA Rookie of the Year odds for 2024-25! The Spurs’ first-year player has an implied win probability of 88.2%. While it hasn’t been a banner year for NBA rookies, Castle looks to be the best of the bunch, and is in an ideal situation in San Antonio. It would take a collapse of epic proportions to see him give the award away now.
The top two picks in the draft are finally starting to show their potential in the second half of the season. Washington’s Alex Sarr (+750) and Atlanta’s Zaccharie Risacher (+750) are next in the NBA ROY odds with an implied win chance of 11.8%, and have actually played pretty well recently. It’s probably too little, too late for the French duo. But Sarr and Risacher are showing that there is something to look forward to for their teams.
The Memphis duo of Zach Edey (+5000) and Jaylen Wells (+7500) are longshots, while Utah’s Isaiah Collier is even longer. I would put Miami’s Kel’el Ware (+20000) ahead of both of them as the Heat rookie is nearly averaging a double-double since the All-Star break! He has no shot at winning this award, but Ware is a player to keep your eye on next season.

Let’s see how the favorite in this season’s NBA Rookie of the Year odds look.
Stephon Castle (-750)
The Spurs have obviously taken a step back as a team after Victor Wembanyama went down with a blood clot in his shoulder. De’Aaron Fox is also out for the season after getting surgery on his pinkie finger. But that just means more reps for Castle, who leads all rookies in points with 14.2.

With no “Wemby” or Fox, Castle is seeing a lot of the ball, and producing. In 17 March games, the 20-year-old is averaging 19.5 points, shooting 45.6% from the field, 30.2% from three-point land, and 68.6% from the free-throw line. The former UConn Husky has also added 4.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists. The assist mark is a monthly high for Castle, which should make teammate Chris Paul happy.
It’s never fun losing your franchise player, and then a player you trade for. The Spurs have also been without coach Gregg Popovich for most of the season. Given his health issues, it wouldn’t be a shock if “Pop”, arguably the best coach in NBA history, retires. But Castle has handled it all in stride, and has improved as the season has gone on. I think his NBA ROY odds should be even higher, but Castle will have to settle with being priced at -750 at NBA betting sites!
Sleepers for the 2024-25 Odds NBA Rookie of the Year
Next, let’s examine the NBA ROY odds for some sleepers that offer more value at NBA betting sites.
Alex Sarr (+750)
It was a slow start for Sarr, who was the #2 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft out of France, but he played his professional basketball in Australia. However, he has definitely improved and March might be his best month yet! Sarr, who turns 20 on April 26, has averaged 16.9 points in 16 March games, along with 6.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks. He shot 41.3% from the field, 34.4% from beyond the arc, and 72.4 from the foul line.

The Wizards are a dreadful team, and they traded Kyle Kuzma to Milwaukee. But that means Sarr can have the ball more, and he’s showing promise when he has it. He doesn’t even turn the ball over as much as you think he would, averaging 1.6 per game. Sarr has also shown rim-protection potential. The seven-footer has a slight 205-pound frame, but he knows where to be, and is athletic. You could see him in the NBA DPOY odds in the next season or two.
He is leaps and bounds ahead of where he was in even January, which is what we need to remember about these players. Sarr won’t be 20 until April, which is still really young. Writing him off after a bad start to his career would have been asinine. The tools are there for Sarr to be a good NBA player, although I wouldn’t take his NBA ROY odds this season.
Zaccharie Risacher (+750)
The same goes for Risacher, who is also coming off the best month of his young career. Risacher, who turns 20 on April 8, averaged 16.3 points in 14 March games, along with 3.8 rebounds. He shot 53.3% from the field, including 39.3% from three-point range, and 73.9% from the free-throw line. The Frenchman has a smooth game that we’re getting to see as he gets more comfortable.

The 2024 #1 overall pick had a career-high 36-point night in a win against Milwaukee, and out of the top three rookies, he is the only one playing meaningful games. The Hawks are trying to chase down the Bucks for sixth in the Eastern Conference. They’re four games back, but with eight games to play, they might run out of time.
However, the future is bright for Risacher, who looks to be a terrific offensive talent. It won’t pan out in a 2024-25 NBA Rookie of the Year win, but the Hawks got a really good player in Risacher.
2024-25 NBA Rookie of the Year Betting Prediction
You have to give this award to Stephon Castle, who has been the best rookie from start to finish this season. Sarr and Risacher have really come on as of late. But so has Castle, and he has been the most consistent all season. You can argue about which of the three has the higher ceiling, which, I think, is Risacher.
However, this isn’t about the ceiling, it’s about how they’ve performed in their first season. Therefore, I’m putting Stephon Castle in my NBA ROY predictions. But at -750, I’m not recommending a wager on it, due to the lack of value.
