2025 Razzie Predictions and Odds – What was the Worst in Film in 2024?

Borderlands is an adaptation of the popular video game series, that didn’t pan out as well as they’d hoped. Starring Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and more, Borderlands receives a 10% on Rotten Tomatoes from the critics (50% from the audience), and a 26 at Metacritic. Against a budget of at least $110 million, Borderlands only brought in $33 million.

It was called one of the worst films of 2024 by Metacritic and Letterboxd, among others, and the Razzies odds reflect that. Black’s performance is especially taking a lot of heat, and some thought the film could have been more violent, like the game. However, the movie is rated PG-13, and looking at the box-office numbers, that plan didn’t work. But it could wind up having a big night at the Razzies!

Madame Web fared much worse with the critics, posting an 11% on Rotten Tomatoes, and a 26 at Metacritic. This offering from Marvel starred Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, while Emma Roberts and Adam Scott also had roles.

It had a budget of around $100 million, and made $100.5 million, so it broke even, at least. However, Madame Web was skewered by the critics, with some saying it was a “embarrassing mess”, to “uninspired”. The nicest review I could find said that it was a “camp classic”, which is a backhanded compliment to the highest degree.

Madame Web is also up for six awards, and there’s a lot of betting value and wagering on these 2025 Razzie odds!

Megalopolis emerges at +220 to win Worst Picture, coming in at 45% on Rotten Tomatoes, and a Metascore of 55 at Metacritic. It was the first movie since 2011’s Twixt from Francis Ford Coppola, who gave the world classics such as The Godfather trilogy (okay, maybe not the third Godfather), and Apocalypse Now.

However, Megalopolis isn’t in the ballpark as those films, probably not in the same country. With a large ensemble cast featuring Adam Driver, Aubrey Plaza, Laurence Fishburne, and Giancarlo Esposito, among others, this is a film Coppola has been trying to get made since 1989. Coppola would wind up spending at least $120 million of his money to produce the film.

However, Megalopolis only made $13.9 million at the box office, and reviews stated the movie was “bloated”, and “narratively excessive, incoherent, and uneven”. There have also been issues with the production of the movie, from misconduct allegations against Coppola, to the famed director dismissing members of the art and visual-effects departments.

Between Coppola’s reputation as a legend in the industry, and the cast, people expected much more out of Megalopolis, which is up for six Razzies. The entire cast is up for Worst Onscreen Combo! I’m a little surprised Megalopolis doesn’t top the 2025 Razzies odds!

Joker: Folie à deux was a shock to many who weren’t expecting a musical! The sequel to Joker received a 31% at Rotten Tomatoes, for both the critics and the audience. At Metacritic, Joker: Folie à Deux received a 45. The film was budgeted at around $195 million, and made $207.5 million at the box office.

Joaquin Phoenix returns to play Alfred Fleck, also known as The Joker, for which he won the Best Actor Academy Award in 2020. Phoenix is joined by Lady Gaga, hence all the musical numbers. However, one review stated that “the musical numbers are underwhelming and Gaga’s talents are not well-utilized”. But there are others who believe the film was made to “antagonize” its fan base on purpose.

Joker: Folie à Deux is polarizing to say the least, but there are many who at least like the production value of the film, which lifts it up. But if you think it was the worst movie of the year, you’ll find some great betting value here!

Reagan is the longshot in these Golden Raspberry predictions at +1000, but it made its money back, bringing in $30.1 million against a budget of $25 million. It stars Dennis Quaid and Penelope Ann Miller as Ronald and Nancy Reagan, focusing on the life of the former two-term President. It received an 18% on Rotten Tomatoes from the critics, but a startling 98% from the audience! Metacritic gave Reagan a score of 22.

The main criticisms around the movie seem to be that it is “propaganda” for Reagan and his fans, while one review praised Quaid as the only good aspect of the film. It was third on Variety’s Worst Movies of 2024, but it is wild how much of a difference there is between the critics and the audience. The 80% difference at Rotten Tomatoes is one of the largest in history!

At +1000, you can call Reagan a longshot, and the audience seeming to like it so much might hurt its chances here.

We have co-favorites for Worst Actor at the top of the board on offshore sportsbooks! Jack Black from Dear Santa and Joaquin Phoenix of Joker: Folie à deux. Quaid is also in the mix, along with Jerry Seinfeld for Unfrosted, and Zachary Levi from Harold and the Purple Crayon. Seinfeld is also up for Worst Director, although Unfrosted was nominated for an Emmy Award. Harold and the Purple Crayon didn’t get much love at the box office, failing to break even, and Levi’s performance didn’t earn any plaudits.

It’s almost impressive that Black’s performance in Borderlands was slandered, but he got nominated for Dear Santa, which should tell you something. That said, Black is also up for Worst Supporting Actor for Borderlands. It would be funny if Phoenix won as he takes all of his roles so seriously, but I’m leaning towards Black, who might actually show up to the ceremony.

Jennifer Lopez is favored in these Worst Actress Razzies odds at +150 for Atlas, which was watched by millions on Netflix, but didn’t receive much love from the critics. Dakota Johnson is next at +180 for Madame Web, and Johnson said she won’t make another superhero movie ever again. Lady Gaga is up for Joker: Folie à deux, Cate Blanchett for Borderlands, and Bryce Dallas Howard rounds out the category for Argylle, which the audiences seemed to like, but not the critics.

I’m going to go with Johnson for Madame Web, especially since her comments also aren’t fond of the film. Madame Web, being a Marvel movie, also received a ton of attention for being awful, so it’s get a little betting value and wager on Dakota Johnson at +180!

Joker: Folie à deux leads the way with seven nominations, while the rest of the Worst Picture choices have six nominations each. But I’m sticking with Madame Web at +100, with a good chance to win Worst Picture, Worst Director (S.J. Clarkson), and Worst Actress. I think Megalopolis and Joker: Folie à deux max out at two wins each, so let’s roll with Madame Web at entertainment betting sites!
