Expert ATP Predictions for Today, March 5

Here are our recommend bets for ATP tournaments that take place today.

Jan-Lennard Struff vs Gael Monfils: Monfils Moneyline (-155)

These players come in nearly identical ATP rankings: 46th for Jan-Lennard Struff and 42nd for Gael Monfils.

It’s Monfils who’s had a much better start to 2025 ,though, going 9-3 and winning in Auckland, albeit a 250 level tournament. He also advanced to the fourth round of the Australian Open.

At 38-years-old, he’s become the oldest player to ever win the Auckland title and the second-oldest player to advance to the second round of an Australian Open since 1988. He will be the oldest player in the Indian Wells draw as well.

On the other side, Struff is just 3-6 in 2025 and his best showing is a quarterfinals appearance in Marseille, a 250 level event.

During their careers, Monfils has gone a perfect 3-0 in the head-to-head history, however, two matchups came back in 2014 and 2018. The third was very recent though in January, a 6-1 7-6(5) win for Monfils in Auckland in the Round of 16.

The Frenchman is obviously in better shape right now and has had success against Struff historically, so backing him to win at -155 is one of the best tennis picks today.

The Bet
Monfils to win

Mariano Navone vs Learner Tien: Tien to Win 2-0 (-125)

The young American, Learner Tien comes in ranked just below Argentina Mariano Navone, 68th to 63rd. Last year’s runner up in the ATP Next Gen Finals, Tien is already impressing in 2025 going 11-4. He reached the fourth round of the Australian Open, knocking out one of the tournament’s top contenders in Daniil Medvedev along the way in five sets.

In Acapulco at the Mexican Open, he again took down one of the top contenders, upsetting Alexander Zverev in straight sets in the Round of 16, before getting knocked out in the quarters.

Navone hasn’t been bad in 2025 at 6-7, but four of those six wins have come on clay and he’s just 1-3 on the hardcourt surface. In fact, in his career, he’s mostly been a clay player with a record of just 7-14 on hardcourts since 2018.

Considering Tien’s form and the favorable surface, the American should dominate this match and win without losing a set.

The Bet
Tien to win 2-0

And here are our WTA betting predictions for today.

Sloane Stephens vs Sofia Kenin: Kenin to Win 2-0 (-149)

Neither player had a great 2024 season, with Sloane Stephens finishing with a 19-22 record and Sofia Kenin going 16-26. But Kenin is already only in double digits for 2025, with a very respectable 10-6. All of those wins have come on hard courts, and she’s ranked 47th, compared to 119th for Stephens.

Kenin also recently reached the quarterfinals of another Masters level tournament in Dubai last month. She’s obviously found some form early in 2025, so I expect her decent run to continue at the Indian Wells as well.

Meanwhile, Stephens earned a wild card spot at Indian Wells but has yet to win a match in 2025. She has lost four consecutive matches this year, and ten in total if we include 2024.

What’s worse is she’s only won 1/9 sets this season, and the one win was in her first match on December 30, so she’s currently on an 0-8 slide.

These two have split the two all-time meetings between them. Kenin took the most recent match though, at this exact venue and round, winning 6-1 6-4 at Indian Wells in 2023.

I expect another clean victory for her, because Stephens looks lost nowadays and nowhere near her best days.

The Bet
Kenin to win 2-0

Belinda Bencic vs Tatjana Maria: Bencic -6.5 Games (-110)

Another wild card entry, Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic comes ranked 58th with a 13-4 record in 2025. Her opponent is 37-year-old Tatjana Maria who is 87th and 8-5 this season.

Bencic returned from having her first child last fall and already has a title under her belt winning in Abu Dhabi. She advanced to the fourth round of the Australian Open before losing to Coco Gauff in three sets.

In comparison, Maria was 35-36 overall in 2024 and 16-19 on hardcourts but is 8-5 overall and 7-4 on the surface this season. Head-to-head, Maria is 0-2 lifetime versus Bencic and has lost all four sets (6-1; 6-3) and (6-4; 7-5), although, these matches were back in 2013 and 2015.

Still, Bencic has been flying since her return and is the significantly more talented player. Backing her to cover the 6.5 game spread is one of the best tennis predictions for Indian Wells on Day 1.

The Bet
Bencic game spread -6.5
