Here are the odds, courtesy of Bovada, after the Top 3 results:

Important: if you don’t see odds when you visit the bookmaker, that’s usually because the show is currently running or there was an episode in the previous 12-24 hours. The oddsmakers usually need a day to process the events and update their American Idol odds after each episode.
As the American Idol Season 22 finale rapidly approaches, there has been a huge swing in the betting markets. Will Moseley has been the odds-on favorite to win American Idol over the last month at all online sportsbooks.
Shortly after the top 3 was revealed, you would get odds of -300 for him to win the 22nd season of American Idol. However, as of Friday, May 17, Moseley has the longest price!
Currently, the former favorite has +200 odds to win the finale. In other words, Moseley’s implied probability of winning fell drastically, from 75% to 33.3%! Now, Jack Blocker, who was a +1000 longshot only three weeks ago, is the favorite to win at -150.
That equals an implied chance to win of 60%. With Moseley’s American Idol odds regressing fast, the online bookies suggest the finale is a two-singer race between Blocker and Abi Carter.
Carter’s odds have shortened considerably over the last few weeks, too. She was +450 two weeks ago but currently has the second-best odds at +180, which equals an implied chance to win of 35.7%.
American Idol Seasons 22 Top Contenders
The American Idol Season 22 winner odds reveal three main contenders have emerged out of the Top 20.
Although the odds do not always point to the winner, they are a great barometer for how things will play out.
Let’s dive into the latest prices and my complete analysis of the top contenders:
Will Moseley (-500)
Will Moseley is another country singer in American Idol Season 22. Unsurprisingly, the 23-year-old, who resembles a younger Chris Stapleton, sang one of his songs to perfection.
The native of Georgia opted for an original song in his audition to the judges. It’s often a big gamble to go with an original song in the audition, but Moseley received top grades.
The former college football player took the momentum from the audition into the Top 20. Moseley flew through this stage and had a big performance in the Top 14 with “Makin’ Me Look Good Again”.
He’s the prototypical country singer who will go deep in the competition. With Harper and Moseley attracting the country voters, they both should have that segment of the population.
Moseley is one of the safest bets in the American Idol Season 22 betting odds to make the Top 3.
Abi Carter (+500)
California native Abi Carter immediately made a lasting impression during her first audition. Performing Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?”, Carter’s rendition blew away the judges and got her an easy golden ticket to Hollywood.
Carter remained in the judge’s good graces after she went to the piano and showcased her versatility. The 21-year-old sang a unique rendition of My Chemical Romance’s “Welcome to the Black Parade”.
Carter’s effort received rave reviews from the judging panel and the voters. She cruised to the Top 14 and appears to be comfortable moving forward. Her deep vocal range and ability to slow it down or speed up will resonate with the audience.
This past week, Carter belted out Yebba’s “My Mind”, once again scoring high marks. Transitioning from “Welcome to the Black Parade” to “My Mind” ensured that Carter’s versatility was on full display.
After a pitchy start, she was able to settle in and hit her spots. I preferred her audition and “Welcome to the Black Parade”, than her effort on Yebba’s song.
Nevertheless, her deep range will likely connect with voters more times than not in subsequent weeks. Those songs tend to stick out with voters in the later rounds. She just needs the right song selection and could be an easy choice for Top 3!
Triston Harper (+800)
Many successful country artists were initially noticed as early as their teenage years. Some go on to have decades-long careers.
Could a 15-year-old from McIntosh, AL, be the next on that list? If Harper has his way, then he’ll win American Idol and move on to rise through the country music charts.
Seemingly mature beyond his years, Harper lists Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash as his musical influences. The youngster has a unique approach to country music that is difficult to emulate.
While he isn’t the second coming of Elvis or Cash, Harper’s style, voice, and stage presence are catching the attention of the judges and American voters. He even received a vote of approval from guest mentor Jelly Roll.
The question is whether Harper’s country sound appeal to a wide voter base? He’s different from the other top contenders, so that should be an advantage.
American Idol Top 3 Results Recap and Updated Betting Pick
Triston Harper, who opened as the favorite to win American Idol Season 22, and Emmy Russell failed to reach the grand finale. I was confident in Moseley and Carter cruising to the Top 3, but the third singer was a bit of a question mark.
Blocker deserved a spot in the final, but Russell was lurking with a chance to steal it. Fortunately, voters came to their senses and gave Blocker the final nod. His American Idol odds are still high, despite his excellent rendition of “Always on My Mind” last week.
For Disney Night, the 25-year-old Nashville resident did well, singing Brad Paisley’s “Nobody’s Fool”. He also took on a David Bowie classic with “Space Oddity”. It’s always difficult to do a Bowie song properly, but Blocker’s own personal twist worked for the audience and judges.
As has been the case throughout the competition, Moseley was consistent in his effort. There weren’t any surprises, but that’s a good thing for him. He nailed Steppenwolf’s “Born to Be Wild” and Chris Stapleton’s “The Ballad of the Lonesome Cowboy”.
The way I saw it, the night’s big winner was Carter, though. She showcased her range with “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid and Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain”. If Carter gets her song selection right for the finale to show off her versatility, range, and tone, she has a great chance to be the next American Idol winner.
The problem here is that the odds for her fell to +180, but I still believe there’s value in backing the only female left in the show.
