There are five nominees in this year’s Best Picture category at the 2024 BAFTAs. Oppenheimer (-600) is the heavy favorite to home the award this year. The film and its cast are featured in several major categories at the show this year.
Oppenheimer is the obvious choice for Best Picture at the 2024 BAFTA Awards. The film has already won multiple awards, including Best Motion Picture/Drama at the Golden Globes. It is also the heavy favorite to win Best Picture at this year’s Academy Awards, according to BetUS.

The Best Actress Award has become a two-woman race at this year’s BAFTAs. Emma Stone (-200) is the favorite for her work in Poor Things. Sandra Huller, who starred in Anatomy of a Fall, is a close second at +150.
Stone’s performance in Poor Things was great, and she has already won several awards for it. However, she does not have a great track record in this category at the BAFTAs. I believe Huller will get the win, and this is one of the few categories where I would bet against the favorite.

Oppenheimer is dominating the awards season in 2024. The lead actor in the film, Cillian Murphy, is a -600 favorite to win the BAFTA for Best Actor. Murphy has already claimed the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Drama for his role.
Bradley Cooper (+1000), Barry Keoghan (+1000), and Colman Domingo (+4000) were also up for that award. According to the latest BAFTA awards betting markets, Murphy’s biggest competition in this category is legendary actor Paul Giamatti (+400). Giamatti won Best Actor at the Critics’ Choice Awards for his role as Paul Hunham.
I think this will be a closer race than the odds indicate. However, I still believe that Murphy will be the one taking home the BAFTA in this category.

Cillian Murphy is not the only star from Oppenheimer who is a heavy favorite this weekend. Christopher Nolan, the director of the film, is listed at -1500 to win the Best Director. The next closest director is Justine Triet at +800, who is nominated for Anatomy of a Fall.
Nolan has been nominated for a total of eight BAFTAS in his career, including three this year. However, he has never won the award. I believe that will end this year with Nolan claiming the Best Director Award.

Anatomy of a Fall (-700) is the favorite in the Best Original Screenplay category. I do not think the film can beat Oppenheimer for Best Film, but I do think Anatomy of a Fall can win this category.
The Holdovers (+400) is an intriguing underdog to bet on in this spot. The films are tied for the second-best odds to win Best Film, but Anatomy of a Fall is a major favorite in this category. Underdogs are only good bets with they win, though, and I think The Holdovers will come up short this weekend.

The Rising Star Award is meant to shine a spotlight on up-and-coming actors. It is also an award voted on by the public. BetUS has Jacob Elordi (-140) as the favorite to win the award in 2024.
I think Ayo Edebiri (+110) is the better pick, though. She had a very successful awards season last year and has worked on several popular projects in recently, such as The Bear, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and others. Edebiri also recently hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live.

Animated films are also honored at the BAFTAs. This year’s favorite to win Best Animated Film is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (-280). It is a close race, though, with Golden Globe-winner The Boy and the Heron listed at +150.
Spider-Man came up short at the Golden Globes, but I think the film will win this weekend. The movie has plenty of star power, and it is a sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which won this award back in 2018.

There are 10 films nominated in the Best British Film category. Poor Things (-250) is the favorite to win the award. The Zone of Interest (+200) is a relatively close second, and I think it can pull off the upset win.
Best actress nominee Sandra Huller is one of the stars of the film, and the movie is nominated in nine categories at this year’s BAFTAs. The Zone of Interest was nominated for three Golden Globes but did not win any. I believe the movie’s luck will change this weekend when it comes out on top in this category.
