Best NBA Player Props Today: Our Best Bets for Tonight

After a shocking trade earlier this month, the New York Knicks’ Karl-Anthony Towns will play his first game with his new squad tonight. The Knicks open the season with a tough assignment against the defending champs at TD Garden. Towns will be under a microscope in this one and the rest of the season.

Although I don’t like KAT as a playoff performer, he is a stat collector in the regular season. The 7’0” big man provides the Knicks with a reputable center, something they believe could be the missing link to a championship title. Being an effective facilitator is one of the most underrated aspects of Towns’ game.

On a Knicks team with multiple weapons, expect Towns to look for the open man often tonight. Head coach Tom Thibodeau’s squad works the ball around and covets ball movement. Towns is a good fit on the Knicks in this regard.

He has averaged more than three assists per game in six consecutive seasons. Since 2019-20, Towns has recorded an average of 3.4 assists per contest! I don’t expect his numbers to regress, so Towns’ over 2.5 NBA props bet is a solid option on opening night.

The Celtics are favored by 5.5 points to defend home court over the Knicks on the opening night in the NBA. New York has to worry about Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum in this one, but they also have to be cognizant of Jrue Holiday from beyond the three-point stripe.

Holiday is one of the more underrated three-point shooters in the NBA. He doesn’t spray recklessly from three, so tends to hit at a high clip. Last season, Holiday shot 42.9% from three for a new career-high in his first year in Boston.

He has recorded at least a 41.1% three-point percentage in two of his last three seasons. It isn’t much of a surprise to see Holiday having success from deep on this Celtics squad. There is too much talent for defenders to be concerned with that Holiday is seeing open looks.

The guard has averaged over two three-pointers a game over the last three years. Additionally, Holiday has buried two or more threes in three of his previous four games versus the Knicks. While the Knicks are worrying about Brown and Tatum, look at Holiday to hit at least a couple of threes for your NBA player prop bets!

The Lakers open the 2024-25 campaign at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves. At 39 years old, LeBron James doesn’t have many opening nights left in him. The veteran should have an extra incentive to impress off the jump this season.

Although he is slowing down, James can still shoot the three with consistency. In fact, James broke a career-high with a 41% three-point percentage last season. Just when you believe James has reached highs in the major categories, he comes back and shoots 41%!

In 2023-24, James booked 2.1 threes per game on 5.1 attempts. It’s the sixth consecutive year that “King James” has averaged more than two three-pointers per game. I don’t expect him to be denied in the opener, so he’s a solid bet to go over at 1.5!
