Caitlin Clark WNBA Prop Bets: Will She Win 2024 MVP?

In this article, I discuss the latest Caitlin Clark prop bets and her rookie predictions for her first season in the WNBA! Following a record-breaking four-year collegiate career at Iowa, Clark is the presumptive No. 1 pick of the 2024 WNBA Draft.

The upcoming WNBA Draft on April 15 is perhaps the most eagerly awaited in the league’s history. The impressive viewership from women’s March Madness suggests that Clark is set to make a significant impact in the professional arena. Despite Clark’s collegiate career concluding with an 87-75 defeat to South Carolina in the national championship, her talent is still undeniable.

As the Indiana Fever prepares to select Clark with the No. 1 pick of the 2024 WNBA Draft, sports betting sites have released Caitlin Clark WNBA prop bets. I explore the latest odds and make my predictions for her first season in the league. The lines I used are sourced from BetOnline, noted as a great WNBA betting site for its consistency with industry-wide standards.

Clark’s points per game over/under suggest she is favored to break the WNBA rookie record. Seimone Augustus of the 2006 Minnesota Lynx still holds the record for the most points scored per game in a season for a rookie.

In the 2006 season, Augustus scored 21.9 points per game, a record that still stands to this day. WNBA 2020 MVP A’ja Wilson came close in her rookie season, but came short of the record with 20.8 points per game in 2018.

At -140 on the Over 22.5, Clark has an implied probability of 58.3% to score at least 23 points. In her final season at Iowa, she recorded a mesmerizing 31.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and nine assists per game. Also, Clark shot 45.8% from the floor, en route to the 2023-24 NCAA Women’s National Championship1.

Despite the strong numbers, it isn’t realistic to expect Clark to duplicate those numbers in her first season in the WNBA. Although Clark has a smooth jumper from anywhere on the floor, she will be playing against stronger and faster defenses.

The space she has on the perimeter is going to tighten up considerably at the next level. Driving and pulling up in the lane will not be so easy with lengthier women in the paint.

It was evident in the Final Four semifinals that she had more issues with consistency versus UConn and South Carolina’s aggressive defenses.

Although Clark is a special player who has a chance to revolutionize the WNBA, she might face some initial growing pains. By the time she gets into a rhythm, it might be tough to eclipse 22.5 points per game by the end of the regular season.

Last season, only three players scored more than 22.5 points per game2. Clark will come close, but I expect her to average roughly 21 points per game in her rookie WNBA season. In short, I’d say the best bet is on the Under at even money.

Caitlin Clark WNBA Rookie of the Year Odds and Prediction

The following Caitlin Clark betting odds are courtesy of BetOnline:

WNBA Rookie of the YearOdds
Yes-140
No+100

Clark is the overwhelming favorite to win Rookie of the Year at -400 odds. This price indicates that Clark has an implied chance of 80% to lift the Rookie of the Year trophy.

There is no denying that she is the one to beat in the rookie race. However, this isn’t to say there isn’t tough competition for the award. The 2024 WNBA Draft class is competitive, which includes arch-rival LSU’s Angel Reese.

Reese is not expected to be selected immediately after Clark. In fact, according to ESPN’s latest 2024 WNBA mock draft, the Minnesota Lynx are expected to make Reese the seventh pick3.

That leaves players such as South Carolina’s Kamilla Cardoso, Stanford’s Cameron Brink, UConn’s Aaliyah Edwards, and Tennessee’s Rickea Jackson ahead of Reese.

Clark is the clear front-runner, but that’s a quality group of players. Jackson might be the most underrated of the rookies. She will certainly have a seat at the table alongside Clark.

Although the 22-year-old Iowa phenom is the logical pick for the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year, I just can’t recommend her at this price. Not at -400 odds, when an injury or cold stretch would doom her chances.

Compared to the other Caitlin Clark prop bets, that wager has the least betting value at BetOnline. Clark’s odds are a touch too inflated due to her recent hype.

There are a few other women who will test Clark for WNBA Rookie of the Year in 2024. For that reason, the value is on an upset at +250!

The Bet
No Rookie of the Year

Caitlin Clark 2024 WNBA MVP Odds and Prediction (+500)

A rookie winning WNBA MVP is not unprecedented. Candace Parker uniquely won WNBA Rookie and MVP in 2008.

Leave it to Clark to be the next woman to win both in the same season, right? While there were some talented women in that era, the WNBA is more competitive than it was 16 years ago.

Clark’s competition for WNBA MVP includes Breanna Stewart, Jewell Loyd, Alyssa Thomas, and Wilson. Wilson and Stewart are both looking for their third MVPs, while Clark’s arrival will bring fresh new competition to the WNBA.

Las Vegas and New York finished No. 1 and No. 2 in the league. Despite Clark’s arrival, the Fever have some work to do after a 13-27 season. Aliyah Boston and NaLyssa Smith figure to grow this season, but the Fever are a year or two away.

Currently, Indiana has the seventh-shortest odds to win the championship at +1800. The MVP award is traditionally bestowed on a player from a winning team.

I don’t see that materializing for Clark and the Fever in 2024. At +500, Clark has an implied chance to come out on top for the 2024 WNBA MVP of 16.7%.

If you want to throw a small bet for fun, then I can’t fault you. However, she likely has an 8% to 10% chance of matching Parker and becoming the second rookie in WNBA history to win league MVP.
