Borussia Dortmund vs. Real Madrid: UCL Final Odds And Predictions

The odds for the UEFA Champions League Final 2024 surprised me. I expected to see very one-sided lines in favor of Real Madrid, but the top soccer bookies online give Dortmund a decent chance to come out on top.

In this betting preview, I explore the latest UCL Final betting odds, analyze both sides, and share my predictions. Read until the end to find my best bets for the Champions League Final!

Real Madrid enters this match as a favorite if we trust the latest UEFA Champions League Final odds. The bookies give them an implied probability of around 77% to lift the trophy.

This seems right, but the -160 for the Spanish champs to win in regular time surprises me. I would’ve expected a shorter price!

The totals line is also interesting, sitting at 2.75 goals. The expectations are for goals, which is not always the case in big finals

Borussia Dortmund – Fifth in Germany, First in Europe?

  • Manager: Edin Terzic
  • UEFA Ranking: 8th
  • Impact Players: Mats Hummels, Julian Brandt, Marcel Sabitzer
  • Bundesliga 2023-24 Result: 5th

Elimination tournaments can be funny sometimes. Borussia Dortmund struggled in the Bundesliga, finishing fifth, but now find themselves a step away from the most prestigious trophy in club soccer.

The team rode their luck at times, but they’ve also shown resilience and precision to get here.

Borussia Dortmund’s Road to the Final

  • Borussia Dortmund 3:1 PSV Eindhoven (Round of 16)
  • Borussia Dortmund 5:4 Atletico Madrid (Quarterfinals)
  • Borussia Dortmund 2:0 PSG (Semifinals)

The entire group works really hard, epitomized by Jadon Sancho’s outstanding shift to keep Kylian Mbappe quiet in the second leg against PSG.

Remember how the same player was benched by Man United for unprofessional behavior in training? He returned to Dortmund on loan and has been eager to prove the Red Devils wrong since.

There’s another exciting narrative developing around Dortmund. Veterans Marko Reus and Mats Hummels have an amazing opportunity to go out with a Champions League trophy, so the entire squad will be playing for them.

Passion is what helped Borussia reach this point, and they will rely on their emotions once again in the final.

Unfortunately, they are going against by far the most successful club in UCL history. Dortmund’s mediocre defense allowed 43 goals in the Bundesliga and looked shaky against PSG, even if their opponents didn’t score.

The French side missed multiple chances and hit the posts 4 times. Real Madrid won’t be that wasteful, so it’s hard to see how Dortmund can keep a clean sheet.

Real Madrid – Unstoppable In the Champions League?

  • Manager: Carlo Ancelotti
  • UEFA Ranking: 3rd
  • Impact Players: Vinicius Jr., Jude Belingham, Toni Kroos
  • La Liga 2023-24 Result: 1st

Real Madrid are on the road to an almost flawless season. The team comfortably won the Spanish La Liga and is a victory away from a famous double.

The iconic club knocked out fellow giants Bayern Munich and Man City to get here. Borussia Dortmund is not on the same level, but anything can happen in one game.

Real Madrid’s Road to the Final

  • Real Madrid 2:1 RB Leipzig (Round of 16)
  • Real Madrid 4:4 Man City, 4:3 after penalties (Quarterfinals)
  • Real Madrid 4:3 Bayern Munich (Semifinals)

However, Real Madrid undeniably has the stronger squad and multiple match winners all across the pitch. I don’t see how Dortmund can stop the likes of Vini Jr, Rodrygo, and Jude Bellingham.

On top of that, the defense is decent, and the midfield can defend, control the tempo, and create opportunities.

If you add Real Madrid’s pedigree in the tournament (14 titles, twice more than second-placed AC Milan) and efficiency in the final third, we have a clear favorite.

Not everything is working in favor of Real, though. French international Aurelien Tchouameni broke his foot against Bayern Munich, so Carlo Ancelotti needs to figure out who stats instead of him.

The Madrid side has more than enough capable replacements, though, so I don’t expect problems. The favorites will want to get it done in regular time, and this is exactly what I expect to see.

2024 Champions League Final Predictions and Betting Pick

Borussia Dortmund’s run to the finals has been a pleasant surprise, but I don’t see them beating Real Madrid. The Spaniards are on another level in this tournament and have a much better team going into the match.

I expect the favorite to win in regular time, even if it’s not super comfortable. Real’s quality up front will make the difference, so backing them at -160 looks like the best bet for this year’s Champions League Final.
