Best March Madness Player Prop Bets for Today (With Reasoning)
Let’s explore the reasoning behind our best college basketball props today, March 21:
Total Points: Walter Clayton Jr. (FLA) Over 17.5 (-125)
Norfolk State and Florida tip-off on Friday evening in their First Round matchup at PNC Arena. The Gators are in the driver’s seat as huge 28.5-point favorites. It would have to take a monumental upset for Norfolk State to pull this one off.
With Walter Clayton Jr. in red-hot form at the moment, it’s unlikely that Norfolk State is going to contain him defensively. Clayton Jr. could stay hot all the way to the Final Four, and I don’t foresee the Spartans being the team to stop him.
Clayton Jr. enters the NCAA Tournament with 17.5 points per game on 44.4% shooting from the field. No defenses have managed to cool him off recently. The 6’3” senior has scored at least 18 points in five straight efforts, which equates to 21.4 per matchup.
Florida's Walter Clayton Jr. is a nuclear shooter. Terrific touch, balance, and range. Comfortable getting to his shooting pocket off the bounce in either direction, posing a threat the moment he crosses halfcourt. pic.twitter.com/nHJnkoMHs0

He’s hot from deep, with 18 three-pointers in the last four games! Norfolk State has yielded 71 points per game, so don’t expect them to contain Clayton Jr. and the Gators.
With this in mind, side with the over 17.5 points for your March Madness player prop bets today!
Total Points: Nate Johnson (AKR) Over 14.5 (-120)
The Akron Zips and Arizona Wildcats clash in what should be a high-scoring contest. Akron is going to want to run right away. They’re a fast-paced offense that likes an up-tempo attack.
There should be plenty of possessions for both teams here. One of the best March Madness player props is on Akron guard Nate Johnson. The junior is going to look to make this a track meet out of the gate.
Johnson has notched 14 points per game on 44.7% shooting. He wasn’t much of a factor early on this season, but his field goal attempts have risen significantly. The Liberty Township native has scored 53 points over the last two games.

He poured in 31 against Toledo and then responded with 22 in the 76-74 win over Miami (OH) in the MAC Championship. Johnson is feeling it right now, and I’m confident he’s eclipsing 15 points against the Wildcats. Look into backing Johnson over 14.5 points tonight!
Total Points: Lamont Butler (UK) Under 9.5 (-130)
Kentucky guard Lamont Butler is not on the floor for his offense. He’s a lockdown defender, but not known for his scoring. Butler has scored 11.5 points per game on 49.2% shooting from the field.
He is an efficient shooter, but Butler isn’t asked to take on much of an offensive role. Note that Butler has attempted just 13 shots over the last three games, for an average of 4.3 shots per game. Additionally, Butler has netted nine or fewer points in seven of his previous eight outings.
Butler tallied five points per game over the last three games for Kentucky. The Wildcats have other playmakers on their roster, so relying on Butler is unlikely against the Troy Trojans this evening.
Troy’s identity is defense. In 2024-25, they’ve allowed 66 points per game, for 27th in the NCAA. They’d prefer to slow this game right down. In any event, Kentucky should prevail, but Butler is likely to be held to nine or fewer points. As one of the best 2025 March Madness player props, consider the under
