Over the recently concluded 2022 Formula One World Championship season, 25-year-old Max Verstappen (Red Bull Racing PBPT) set a new circuit record by winning an incredible 14 races over the 22-race season.
Dutchman Verstappen won his record 14th race at the 2022 Mexico City Grand Prix —a race he also won in 2021—breaking the old record of 13 held by Michael Schumacher (2004) and Sebastien Vettel (2013).
But it’s worth noting that there were only 18 races in 2004 on the Formula One World Championship schedule and just 19 F1 races in 2013. In the upcoming 2023 F1 season, there will be a new record 23 Grand Prixs with Las Vegas joining the party.
Verstappen wrapped up the 2022 F1 World Championship winning at the Suzuka International Racing Course in Suzuka, Japan. His Red Bull Racing team clinched the Constructors’ championship at the United States Grand Prix in Texas earlier on.
Two-time champ Verstappen (-140 to Win 2023 F1 World Championship, BetOnline) will be seeking his third straight crown when the 2023 F1 season revs up on Sunday, March 5 with the 2023 Bahrain Grand Prix from the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir.
If he starts every race, Verstappen will get 23 chances to break his own record and if he should get 15, there is a nice Max Verstappen Prop bet of “15 or More Wins” currently priced at 7/1 (+700), but that really seems very ambitious.

Although he has the car, team and best Drivers number (No. 1), Verstappen should have trouble dominating every weekend in 2023 again like he did in 2022, driving in that rarified air of seemingly winning every week like Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson once did in NASCAR.
Max Verstappen odds to win again in 2023 make it seem like a foregone conclusion that he will win the Drivers’ championship again, but don’t be so sure with so many veterans and new drivers having solid 2021 seasons personally and for their respective Constructors and teams.
Besides Futures odds at F1 betting sites for the 2023 F1 season, Bovada is offering up a unique Max Verstappen Prop bet, asking how many races the phenom will have in 2023. The favorite in this market is 9+ races at -300, and after 14 checkered flags, double-digits will be expected.
But is this asking too much after such a magnificent season? And can we expect his Red Bull teammate to actually want to help with all of what happened at the end of last season?

Max Verstappen Predictions for 2023 Race Season
Expecting Verstappen to do better in 2023 after it took so much for him to win 14 races in 2022 is simply too much, and most champions have trouble winning a third straight season.
When you are the top dog, everyone is always out to knock you off your throne. And when you win two straight years like Verstappen and the Lightning, then you can expect a target on your back in every razor every game.
Here is a list of the 14 races Verstappen won in the 2022 F1 World Championship season:
Max Verstappen Wins in 2022
- Round 2—Saudi Arabian Grand Prix
- Round 4—Emilia Romagna Grand Prix
- Round 5—Miami Grand Prix
- Round 6—Spanish Grand Prix
- Round 8—Azerbaijan Grand Prix
- Round 9—Canadian Grand Prix
- Round 12—French Grand Prix
- Round 13—Hungarian Grand Prix
- Round 14—Belgian Grand Prix
- Round 15—Dutch Grand Prix
- Round 16—Italian Grand Prix
- Round 18— JapaneseGrand Prix
- Round 19—United States Grand Prix
- Round 20—Mexico City Grand Prix
One problem with Verstappen and his champion Red Bull racing team to look for in the 2023 F1 season is the relationship between the Dutchman and his Mexican teammate, Pérez.
In the second-to-last race of the season, there was an unfortunate incident where already champ Verstappen wouldn’t let his teammate Pérez pass him in the race. Pérez ultimately had a 4th-place finish and was tied with Leclerc (Scuderia Ferrari) in the standings.
This can’t be a good thing for either driver in this sport with just two Drivers on a team, where working together in such a small field and tight tracks like F1 is imperative. At first blush, it seems the smartest thing Verstappen could have done was help his teammate.
But outside of NHRA and the IndyCars, F1 is the fastest Auto Racing sport and being a good teammate isn’t as important as it is in Cycling. To expect some great change or understanding from Verstappen or Pérez is a stretch and Pérez is evolving into a very good driver in his own right.
Pérez could actually have a better start to the 2021 F1 season and scare his teammate. But conventional wisdom says that Verstappen aims for his third straight and wins at least six or seven races but probably not a dozen.
This Max Verstappen prop bet is best approached with some caution and I lean toward the smaller end of the spectrum with the two-time defending champion winning between eight and 11 races and being challenged for the title by a resurgent Hamilton, Leclerc, Sainz, and maybe even Russell.
