Gladiator 2 Odds and Predictions: How Will Ridley Scott’s New Opus Fare?

Gladiator 2 Odds and Predictions: How Will Ridley Scott’s New Opus Fare?

Gladiator 2 odds have been released for the sequel to the original Gladiator, and this new film has big shoes to fill. The original won five Academy Awards at the 73rd Oscars in 2001, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Russell Crowe.

But Gladiator 2 has a great cast, starring Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Connie Nielsen, and the great Denzel Washington. It is also directed by Ridley Scott, who helmed the original. It definitely has a spot on the most anticipated movies of 2024.

Therefore, I’m going to analyze the three markets available for Gladiator 2 and give you my picks for the Gladiator 2 betting odds on the box office results, kills in the first 10 minutes, and more. Strap in for battle and get ready for my Gladiator 2 best bets!

Gladiator 2: 1st Weekend US Box Office Takings

OutcomeODDS
Over $125.5 Million USD-110
Under $125.5 Million USD-130

Gladiator 2 is slated to be released on November 22, 2024, which is the week before Thanksgiving in the United States. The first Gladiator was released in early May 2000, and brought in $34.8 million over the first weekend, which adjusts to $63.7 million in 2024 for inflation.

The sequel is better positioned to have a big first weekend. It’s the weekend before a holiday, so people won’t be traveling. It’s also the weekend before Black Friday.

Even though the massive sales weekend is on the horizon, not to mention Christmas, people will get out to see a movie. It’ll also be able to avoid Moana 2, which is slated to come out on November 27. There isn’t much crossover with this movie, but if people have to choose this one or the one their kids want to see, the latter will win out.

There are also a couple of names in the cast that US audiences will get excited over. Pedro Pascal is wildly popular after TV roles in Game of Thrones, Narcos, The Mandalorian, and The Last of Us. Pascal was also fantastic opposite Nicolas Cage in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Of course, there is also the iconic Denzel Washington, who has won a pair of Oscars, which feels low for how legendary he is.

And yet, my Gladiator 2 box office prediction will be Under $125.5 million. The rest of the cast (Paul Mescal, Connie Nielsen, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger) is very talented, but I wouldn’t say any of them will move the needle at the box office.

On top of that, many fans of the original aren’t quite sure what to expect after so many failed sequels in the past few years. Some of them will probably wait for the reviews before watching this one, hitting the first weekend numbers. That’s why -130 for the under makes sense here.

The Bet
Under $125.5 Million

Gladiator 2: Number of Deaths in Opening 10 Minutes

NUMBERODDS
0+125
1-10+165
11++175

Gladiator is well known for its opening battle scene, in which Crowe’s Maximus leading an army of Roman soldiers into battle.

As you can see, there were plenty of deaths in the first 10 minutes of the first movie. Crowe and his army emerge victorious, although they also suffered massive losses. Will Gladiator 2 follow its predecessor and come flying out of the gates with an exciting action sequence?

I’m going to say that there will be action. But I will recommend the middle wager at online betting sites and wager on 1–10 deaths in the first 10 minutes.

There is good value at +165 and gives you room for a great gladiator battle to kick things off. I also think that Gladiator 2 will look to differentiate itself from the original and avoid a major battle in the first 10 minutes. However, there WILL be a major battle in Gladiator 2, so don’t worry about that.

The Bet
1–10 Deaths

Gladiator 2: First Animal Shown in Movie (Excluding Titles)

ANIMALODDS
Tiger+250
Lion+300
Bear+350
Leopard+350
Bison/Auroch+500
Hippo+600
Crocodile+600
Elephant+700

One thing that is interesting from the trailer is that a rhino is prominently featured in a gladiator scene. However, it’s not listed in these Gladiator 2 betting odds, so the thought is that, this scene happens later in the movie.

This really all depends on where the film opens. Will the first scene be in the great outdoors, like the first Gladiator was? Will it be in caves, or where slaves are kept? How about a palatial mansion, or maybe, it’ll actually be in the Colosseum, or an arena that is used for fighting? There are plenty of options.

I’m going to play it safe and go with a tiger at +250. Tigers were popular back in the Roman era, and while there will be some artistic liberties taken, I’m willing to bet that we’ll see a tiger first in Gladiator 2.

Of course, be careful with this market. It’s very random, so I only recommend a small wager if you decide to go for it.
