Gen.G is the clear LoL Worlds 2024 favorite going into the playoffs, followed by Hanwha, Bilibili, and T1. These are the most likely winners, according to the oddsmakers, while Weibo Gaming and FlyQuest are highly unlikely to go all the way.

The odds are a good indicator of what to expect, but they are far from perfect. Furthermore, we’ve seen underdogs win the Worlds multiple times, so don’t underestimate any team.

LoL Worlds 2024 Knockout Stage Key Info

The Knockout Stage is going to blow everyone away, that’s for sure! Not only is the event moving to the Adidas Arena in Paris for the quarterfinals and semifinals, but we’re also going to see the 8 best teams battle it out against each other with no room for errors.

  • The Knockout Stage kicks off on October 17th with the first quarterfinals clashes.
  • It’s set to feature the 8 teams who’ve passed the Swiss Stage with three wins.
  • Quarterfinals and semifinals will be held at the Adidas Arena in Paris, France.
  • The LoL Worlds 2024 Grand Finals will be held at the O2 Arena in London, England.

At this point in the tournament, a loss equals elimination. It’s as simple as that! From now on, all matches are bo5 (best of five) and there are no second chances. You lose three maps and you’re out of the equation.

Here’s a closer look at the bracket:

  • LNG Esports vs. Weibo Gaming
  • Hanwha Life Esports vs. Bilibili Gaming
  • Top Esports vs. T1
  • G vs. FlyQuest

LoL Worlds Top Favorites

The following teams have the highest probability of winning the tournament, according to the LoL World Championships betting odds.

Gen.G (+100)

Canyon and co have been absolutely phenomenal in the group stage. They even experimented with their comp a bit and didn’t go full throttle at times, yet still emerged at the top of the food chain without a single loss.

Granted, Gen.G did lose a map against Hanwha, but came to their senses and finished it off with a reverse sweep.

Yep, that’s how they do things in South Korea! It’s nothing surprising, though, considering the sheer experience some of these players have. Especially Faker who already has 4 LoL Worlds titles to his name.

Back to the topic – FlyQuest is going to be in a whole world of trouble coming into the quarterfinals. Yes, the American team did qualify for the knockout stage, but I just can’t see them doing anything notable against power-hungry Gen.G

As for the semifinals, it’s likely going to be a cracking contest between the best South Korean teams – Gen.G and T1. Fingers crossed we get to see Chovy go up against Faker in mid, and Oner jungle it out against Canyon like in the good old days.

I can definitely see Gen.G beating everyone else left in the tournament, but the odds of +100 for them to win are disrespectful to the other squads. I can’t really justify a bet when the price is so low.

Hanwha Life Esports (+400)

The bookies still see Hanwha as a huge threat, and for good reasons. The likes of Zeka and Peanut have swept through the Swiss Stage with just a single loss to Gen.G. Even that defeat went to the decider, which tells you enough about their prowess.

However, that flimsy display against FlyQuest has put plenty of question marks ahead of the quarterfinals. Yes, they did win 2:1 in the end… but Quad and Inspired wreaked havoc in game 2.

The inconsistent display in this clash doesn’t bode well, considering the potential road to the final. Facing Bilibili next is far from ideal, so I wouldn’t back Hanwha at the current odds.

Bilibili (+500)

According to the odds, Bilibili suffered the biggest drop when comparing the odds from our original piece to the updated ones. The team used to be the favorite to win the whole event at +275. They’re still near the top, but have fallen to +500.

It takes no genius to understand why – Bilibili barely squeezed through the Swiss Stage. They kicked things off on the right foot by beating MAD Lions KOI. However, they slipped against LNG and then once again against T1. Bilbili were the favorites in both encounters but simply couldn’t get a good comp to counter the opposition.

Luckily, they managed to turn things around against PSG Talon,. Mind you, it was all thanks to Bin’s marvelous two maps with Jax. He absolutely obliterated Azhi on top. The 23-year-old Taiwanese first tried Keenen then Poppy, but neither worked in his favor. Bin was just too good.

The deciding 5th round win came against G2. European LoL fans will still be salty because of those third-map shenanigans. Once again, Caps and the co succumbed to the pressure and got eliminated by Bilibili.

The Chinese team is finding some form when it matters the most, but they have the same problem as their upcoming opponent, Hanwha Esports. For Bilibili to win the title, they would need to beat three fantastic teams in a row. It’s possible, but the odds are not good enough for a bet.

LoL World Championship 2024 Dark Horses

The favorites might be where most bettors are looking at, but the following two teams can upset the odds and win the Worlds.

  1. LNG Esports (+800)

LNG esports came out of the Swiss Stage unscathed. Scout, Weiwei and the boys have been taking no prisoners. They dismantled Liquid, Bilibili, and Dplus all within 40 minutes and without dropping a single map.

Still, esports betting sites don’t see LNG Esports as one of the main favorites at +800. Part of the reason is the upcoming clash against Weibo Gaming in the quarterfinals. It’s a tricky clash that could go either way.

Even though Weibo was much more consistent in the LPL, LNG took them down in the Regional Finals without losing a map. This will only serve as extra motivation for Scout and the boys, meaning we’re in for quite the quarterfinal here.

The path to the final for LNG won’t be easy, so backing them is a risky option.

  2. T1 (+800)

Last but certainly not least – T1! As I noted in the original article before the start of the competition, T1 are my go-to favorites for winning this year’s Worlds. They might not be the top candidate right out of the box, but they’ve already shown us they mean business.

With Faker leading the charge in the midlane and Oner jungling like he’s back in his prime, this team is ready for something special. T1 must be looking scary, especially to Top Esports who are their first Knockout Stage challengers.

Top Esports got the better of them in the Swiss Stage, but knowing how well Faker manages to learn from his previous outings, I for one wouldn’t be surprised to see a 3:1 or even a 3:0 blowout here. The next potential step, against Gen.G, is going to be the big one.

However, if Oner and Faker can lead T1 to a win there, the door to the 2024 LoL Worlds title will be wide open. The quality, experience, and lack of pressure are why I really like the +800 available for T1 to win the Worlds.

LoL Worlds 2024 Predictions and Betting Pick

It’s really difficult to argue with the likes of Gen.G and Hanwha Life Esports, but the odds for both sides are questionable. It should be much closer than the oddsmakers imply, so I’m happy to stick to my initial prediction before the start of the Worlds.

I’ll be siding with T1 here. Despite losing the first match to Top Esports, T1 came back and dismantled paiN, LNG, and G2 Esports and clinched the knockout stage. That’s a lot of momentum going into the eliminations.

My money is on T1 to reach the semifinals where they’ll battle it out against Gen.G (unless FlyQuest surprises the whole world) for a spot in the grand finals. I’ll even go out on a limb here and say the 2024 Worlds winner is going to be the team that wins the bottom semifinal (most likely T1 vs. Gen.G). So, at +800, the value definitely ours to grab!
