In this article, I explore the latest odds to win, analyze the favorites, and reveal my MLB Rookie of the Year predictions for both the AL and NL.
MLB Rookie of the Year 2025 Betting Odds

The 2025 AL Rookie of the Year odds suggest we should have a close race for the title this season! The preseason prices suggest that the Yankees’ Jasson Dominguez (+400) has the best chance, though. At +400, Dominguez holds a 20% implied probability of winning Rookie of the Year in the AL.
Following closely behind Dominguez, Red Sox outfielder Roman Anthony (+600) has a 14.3% implied probability of being crowned AL Rookie of the Year.
Dominguez and Anthony’s AL ROY odds have remained the same through March, but another Red Sox outfielder rookie’s price is on the move.
After it was announced that Kristian Campbell (+700) made the Opening Day roster, the 22-year-old’s price improved from +800 to +700. In other words, the Red Sox have two rookies in the running to win MLB Rookie of the Year in 2025!

LA Dodgers’ Japanese newcomer Roki Sasaki (+200) is the clear favorite to win Rookie of the Year in the NL. To the surprise of no one, the highly sought-after pitcher chose to play for the Dodgers.
He’s looked great in spring training and in his first Major League start in the Tokyo Series. However, Sasaki’s NL ROY odds have regressed from mid to late March. Previously, Sasaki had +175 odds to win Rookie of the Year in the NL, and now at +200, his implied chance to win has dropped slightly from 36.4% to 33.3%.
On the other hand, Washington Nationals’ outfielder Dylan Crews (+300) is garnering more respect in the 2025 NL Rookie of the Year odds markets.
Crews has witnessed some movement from +400 to +300, or a 20% to 25% improvement, with Opening Day days away! Matt Shaw’s (+400) price has improved modestly from +450 to +400 at MLB betting sites.

American League Rookie of the Year 2025 Favorites
Before delving into my AL Rookie of the Year picks, let’s analyze the top two contenders and check on how they’ve been fairing in spring training:
Jasson Dominguez (+400)
Dominguez was signed as a free agent by the Yankees in 2019 at 16 years old! Despite his high ceiling and hype heading into this season, Dominguez wasn’t drafted by any club and took a different route compared to most of his competition in the rookie class.

In the minors last year, Dominguez hit .314 with 35 RBIs and 11 home runs in 58 games. He was called up to the Majors for 18 matchups and showed flashes of greatness, including a long ball on his first swing in 2023. However, it was clear he needed another year to prepare for Major League pitching.
In 2024, Dominguez finished with a .179 batting average, four RBIs, and two home runs. He should improve on that drastically in 2025!
Spring Training Analysis
Dominguez has played like you’d expect from any rookie. He has suffered some growing pains, but we’ve seen indications of why the Yankees inked him as a 16-year-old.
Dominguez has shown a bit of everything in spring training, including power and contact numbers. He’s recorded a .267 batting average, three home runs, and 12 RBIs. Power and talent is most certainly present for Dominguez, even if he is very raw. We’ll see if he puts it all together in the regular season!
The outlook for Dominguez is incredibly positive, but he faces stiff competition for Rookie of the Year honors!
Dominguez Rookie Season Outlook
The future is promising for Dominguez. He has incredible power and can get the ball out of the park in a hurry. However, I think fans need some patience with Dominguez before he looks like a polished product.
Don’t expect much from Dominguez through the first half of the season. Although he is expected to be the Yankees’ starting left fielder on Opening Day, I don’t foresee solid production until after the All-Star break. He may very well do enough damage in that time to warrant AL Rookie of the Year consideration.
That being said, I’m not enthusiastic about backing Dominguez as the betting favorite!
Roman Anthony (+600)
In 2022, Anthony slipped to the Red Sox with the 79th overall pick of the 2022 MLB Draft. He was a steal by all metrics then and is an even bigger steal now that you see him as one of the favorites for AL Rookie of the Year!

The youngster is just 20 years old but already turning heads. Anthony heads into the season as the No. 1 prospect in the American League on MLB’s Top 100 list. The Red Sox are excited about the future for Anthony, but will he take Rookie of the Year honors?
Spring Training Analysis
The spring training slate has been an up and down affair for Anthony. You have to take the good with the bad, but the overall product looks promising. One of Anthony’s best results has been getting on base. He holds a .391 OBP through 34 at-bats this spring training.
Despite hitting only one home run, the one ball Anthony got a hold of might still be in the air. He blasted a moon shot out of the park against the Rays in his most impressive moment during spring training. I anticipate Anthony’s power stroke to progress through the regular season.
Anthony has been fine in the outfield as well. He is going into his rookie campaign with some skepticism from pundits as a liability on defense but appears to be growing as a player.
Anthony Rookie Season Outlook
The sky’s the limit for Anthony in his first season with the Red Sox organization! Last season, Anthony did everything in Double and Triple-A. He concluded the year with a .291 batting average, 65 RBIs, and 18 home runs in 119 games.
With just shy of a .400 OBP, like in spring training, Anthony showed off his incredible ability to track balls and strikes. It’s something we don’t often see in 20-year-old ball players, but Anthony has appeared more mature than players a decade older than him.
The Red Sox have a great one, and I expect us to see Anthony shine in his rookie season!
National League Rookie of the Year 2025 Favorites
Similar to the American League, let’s break down the top favorites, according to the latest MLB Rookie of the Year 2025 odds:
Roki Sasaki (+200)
Two years ago, the Dodgers won the Shohei Ohtani sweepstakes. This past offseason, the biggest sweepstakes was for fellow countryman, Roki Sasaki. The 23-year-old followed Ohtani to Los Angeles, just like how pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto did.
Yamamoto entered the year with plenty of hype, but didn’t live up to expectations. In fact, he was the favorite to win NL Rookie of the Year a season ago, too. Will Sasaki face a similar fate, or is he destined for the rookie crown in the National League?

While Yamamoto had high expectations, he wasn’t the No. 1 overall prospect in MLB’s Top 100. That honor belongs to Sasaki as we head to Opening Day. The Dodgers already opened their 2025 season in the Tokyo Series and Sasaki pitched as advertised in his opening frame.
He finished with a 3.00 ERA and 2.00 WHIP through three innings. Command was a problem for Sasaki, as he issued five walks. When Sasaki was locked in, he was virtually unhittable, however.
Spring Training Analysis
In spring training, Sasaki arrived in the United States as advertised! Despite the hiccup against the Cubs in Tokyo, the highly anticipated rookie hurler was on fire on American soil in the Cactus League.
Through seven innings, Sasaki has brought the “wow” factor with a 0.00 ERA and 0.86 WHIP. The cutter that Sasaki throws is a thing of beauty. He doesn’t tip off any of his pitches, which makes everything all the more difficult for batters.
In addition to allowing no runs, Sasaki has struck out seven batters during spring training. While the competition level will kick up a notch in the regular season, if he pitches like this, Sasaki will manage to fool some of the best batters in baseball.
Sasaki Rookie Season Outlook
I’m incredibly high on Sasaki this season. He wasn’t perfect in Tokyo, but I suspect that nerves in front of such a huge crowd on home soil had something to do with his control problems. That will be rectified in the US, so there is no reason to be concerned.

That being said, there will of course be blemishes along the way for Sasaki. It’s very tough for any pitcher to duplicate what Paul Skenes was able to do as a rookie. And it can only take two or three awful performances to push Sasaki out of the NL Rookie of the Year running.
That’s concerning to me, so backing Sasaki at these short odds is an issue. Whereas, batters can go through cold stretches and still win this award. The margin for error is much thinner for Sasaki!
Dylan Crews (+300)
The Nationals lost some key veteran talent over the last few years. After winning the World Series in 2019, the organization was largely gutted after failing to pay their prized free agents. However, the future is looking bright with a solid young foundation led by the 23-year-old Crews.
Selected with the second overall pick of the 2023 MLB Draft, the LSU Tiger is expected to contribute immediately in his MLB career. Crews got his feet wet in 31 Major League games in 2024.

He impressed at times, finishing with a .218 batting average, three home runs, and eight RBIs in 19 at-bats. If it wasn’t for Sasaki, Crews would easily be my top prospect in the National League. He enters the season ranked as the No. 4 overall prospect in baseball.
Spring Training Analysis
The Altamonte Springs native has impressed throughout spring training. He has connected on 15 hits for a .278 batting average in 55 at-bats! Crews’ OBP has grown to .385, with a .730 OPS.
In addition to his hitting prowess, Crews has managed to swipe three bases and has two triples to showcase his baserunning ability. He is doing it all right now and is providing Nationals fans with plenty of confidence for the future. I’d like to see a home run from Crews, but that’s about the only thing missing from his spring training resume.
Crews also possess above-average arm strength and is competent in tracking down fly balls. Don’t expect Crews to win a Gold Glove Award, but his defense has been sufficient. With his ability at the plate, an average effort in the outfield is all he may need to win NL Rookie of the Year.
Crews Rookie Season Outlook
The rookie sensation already showed what he is capable of doing last year. He displayed solid patience, power, and base running skills. That was also evident in his time in the minor leagues.

Crews’ hot start in spring training isn’t much of a surprise to me. I was expecting him to knock around pitchers in the Grapefruit League and that’s what he is doing. He’ll face some growing pains in the first month of the season, but he’ll grow out of it and get hot.
My outlook for Crews is incredibly favorable, with a serious run at the NL Rookie of the Year in the cards!

That said, for good reason, Anthony is the top-ranked prospect in the Major Leagues in 2025! He has all the tools in his tool chest to make a huge impact as a rookie.
With this in mind, Anthony is the best AL Rookie of the Year pick on the board at +600!
2025 NL Rookie of the Year Betting Pick
Sasaki is set to have an unbelievable year in the Dodgers’ rotation, but I don’t see the value at +200. A minor injury to a young pitcher has the chance to derail their campaign quickly.
The Dodgers will be cautious with rushing Sasaki back from any injury, so that is my concern. Instead, online bookmakers are offering tremendous betting value on Crews to win the NL Rookie of the Year.
