2025 NBA All-Star Predictions and Odds – Who Wins Under Yet Another New All-Star Format?

2025 NBA All-Star Predictions and Odds – Who Wins Under Yet Another New All-Star Format?

The NBA is trying a new format, and this is reflected in the 2025 NBA All-Star odds as there are four options now to win now, instead of just two! The “Inside the NBA” crew from TNT has taken over picking the teams, but who will win?

I’ll give you my best 2025 NBA All-Star predictions for Sunday’s game in San Francisco, as well as picks for Friday’s Celebrity Game and the challenges. It’s a long article, so feel free to use the jump links below to go straight to the section you’re interested in.

NBA All-Star Game Format 2025: What’s New This Year?

The NBA All-Star Game has suffered from a lack of competitiveness recently, with 2020 being the exception. The league has been working on various ways to change that. Starters were picked by the fans (50%), the players (25%), and the media (25%). The reserves were voted on by the coaches in each conference.

The players were then drafted by TNT analysts Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal, and Kenny Smith on February 6 in three separate teams. TNT analyst Candace Parker is the general manager for the fourth team, which will come from the winner of the Rising Stars Challenge.

This is now a four-team tournament, with semifinals and a final. The winners of the semifinals will meet in the final game.

For the semifinal games, the first team to get to, or eclipse, 40 points, is the winner. In the final game, teams have to get to, or pass, 25 points.

NBA All-Star Winner Odds

TEAMODDS
Team Chuck+150
Team Shaq+150
Team Kenny+400
Team Candace+800

Charles Barkley’s Team Chuck (+150) is the co-favorite at offshore sportsbooks, led by three-time MVP and leading vote-getter, Denver’s Nikola Jokić. Team Chuck also has the MVP favorite, Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama on what is a huge, physical team. Team Chuck has a 40% implied win chance on Sunday night in San Francisco.

Team Shaq (+150) is also a co-favorite, and it features the veteran trio of LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State’s Stephen Curry, and Phoenix’s Kevin Durant. Between the three of them, there are 47 All-Star appearances, led by James’ 21. The Boston duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are also on Team Shaq. Team Shaq isn’t far behind Team Barkley, with a 40% implied chance of winning.

Team Kenny (+400) is next in the 2025 NBA All-Star Game odds, led by Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards and New York’s Jalen Brunson. Team Kenny also has the duo of Darius Garland and Evan Mobley, whose Cleveland Cavaliers have the league’s best record heading into the All-Star break. Team Kenny has a 20.0% implied win probability.

Finally, Team Candace (+800) brings up the rear. She’ll find out her team on Friday, February 14, when the Rising Stars Challenge yields the winning team. The NBA All-Star Game actually took their format from the Rising Stars Challenge, which has used this format since 2022. Team Candace has an 11.1% chance of winning, as her squad will be composed of first and second-year players. Those teams will be coached by Tim Hardaway, Mitch Richmond, and Chris Mullin, the famous “Run-TMC” Golden State Warriors trio of the late 1980s and early 1990s.

NBA All-Star MVP Odds

PLAYERODDS
Stephen Curry (Shaq)+700
Victor Wembanyama (Chuck)+700
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Chuck)+800
LeBron James (Shaq)+900
Anthony Edwards (Kenny)+1000
Damian Lillard (Shaq)+1100
Jalen Brunson (Kenny)+1600
Donovan Mitchell (Chuck)+1600
Jayson Tatum (Shaq)+1600
Kevin Durant (Shaq)+2000
Karl-Anthony Towns (Chuck)+2500

Curry (+700) is the co-favorite to win his second NBA All-Star Game MVP, as his first was in 2022. The Warriors’ star has a 12.5% implied win probability, and he’ll be plenty motivated to take the award in his home arena. Wembanyama (+700) is tied with Curry at 11.8%, and the young Spurs’ star has a competitive motor that could lift everyone around him, especially his teammates, to take this game more seriously.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (+800) is just ahead of James (+900), a three-time NBA All-Star Game MVP, in these NBA All-Star Game MVP odds. Edwards (+1000) is next, ahead of Lillard (+1100), who is the reigning All-Star Game MVP, and can fill up the basket in a hurry.

Kevin Durant (+2000), a two-time All-Star MVP, would be a great longshot pick, and he would also love to win it on the Warriors’ home court. While Chase Center is new, Durant spent three seasons with the Warriors, winning two NBA titles and two Finals MVP. Durant also won one of his two All-Star Game MVPs during his stint with Golden State.

Jokic was the highest vote-getter in the West, while Antetokounmpo paced the East. James extends his All-Star appearance record with his 21st showing, while there are six players making their first appearance. Among the ten voted starters, Team Chuck picked up five of them, while four went to Team Shaq, and the last one, Brunson, will represent Team Kenny.

NBA All-Star Weekend Challenges Odds and Lines

Let’s check out the various competitions that you can bet on Friday and Saturday night before the All-Star Game on Sunday night!

Rising Stars Challenge Odds

TEAMODDS
Team Mitch Richmond+160
Team Chris Mullin+250
Team Tim Hardaway+275
Team Jeremy Lin+500

This competition will be coached by four former Warriors. Tim Hardaway, Mitch Richmond, and Chris Mullin made up Golden State’s famed “Run-TMC” high-scoring trio in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Meanwhile, Jeremy Lin got his NBA start with the Warriors, playing 29 games for them during the 2010-11 season. However, he grew up in the Bay Area. They’ll play the same format as the All-Star Game, in that the four teams will play each other, in some order, and then the two winners meet in the final. All players are either first or second-year NBA players.

Team Richmond (+160) is favored with the Thompson twins, Amen and Ausar, and Amen has blossomed in his second season. The Houston forward averaged 18.7 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists in 12 January games. Ausar has also improved for the Pistons throughout the year.

Team Mullin (+250) has Memphis big man Zach Edey and San Antonio’s Stephon Castle, who has played the best basketball of his rookie season since the new year. Furthermore, keep an eye out for Utah’s Keyonte George, who is averaging 16.4 points and 5.8 assists for the Jazz.

Team Hardaway (+275) is led by the top two picks in the 2024 Draft, Atlanta’s Zaccharie Risacher and Washington’s Alex Sarr, who will compete as a team in the Skills Challenge. Toronto’s Gradey Dick can light it up from outside when he gets hot.

Finally, Team Lin (+500) is the G League team, and will get noticed with two-time Slam Dunk Contest champion Mac McClung, who is going for his third win in a row in that competition. Reed Sheppard was the third pick in the 2024 Draft for the Rockets, but hasn’t stuck in the NBA yet. But don’t sleep on JD Davison of the Maine Celtics, as he is third in the G League averaging 26.5 points.

Skills Challenge Odds

TEAMODDS
Team Cavs (Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley)+200
Team Spurs (Victor Wembanyama, Chris Paul)+225
Team Warriors (Draymond Green, Moses Moody)+300
Team Rooks (Zaccharie Risacher, Alex Sarr)+375

This three-round challenge involves four teams going through three rounds of different skills. The first is a time relay, with the fastest team receiving 100 points. The second round requires players to pass the ball through different targets, and the team with the highest score gets 100 points. The third and final round only features the top two teams, and they have to make shots from different spots on the court. If there is a tiebreaker needed, the teams have to shoot from halfcourt, and the first team makes it wins.

Team Warriors (+300) will have lots of fan support at home, and the Rooks (+375) might have some trouble. It should come down to Team Cavs (+200) and Team Spurs (+225), and I’m leaning towards the latter at +225!

3-Point Contest Odds

PLAYERODDS
Damian Lillard+400
Buddy Hield+450
Tyler Herro+500
Darius Garland+600
Norm Powell+600
Jalen Brunson+700
Cam Johnson+900
Cade Cunningham+1000

The fun begins with the 3-point contest, where Milwaukee’s Damian Lillard (+400) is favored and going for the three-peat! Another win would tie Lillard with Boston’s Larry Bird and Chicago’s Craig Hodges, and being from Oakland, he would love to get the three-peat in nearby San Francisco.

Lillard has stiff competition as 2020 winner Buddy Hield (+450) is right behind him in the 3-Point Contest odds, and he’ll have the crowd behind him as he now plays for Golden State. Tyler Herro (+500) and Darius Garland (+600) are both shooting the lights out this season, as is Norman Powell.

I worry about Jalen Brunson (+700), Cam Johnson (+900), and Cade Cunningham (+1000). I think all three shoot the 3-ball well, but might need to shoot it in the flow of the game.

Slam Dunk Contest Odds

PLAYERODDS
Mac McClung-200
Matas Buzelis+450
Stephon Castle+550
Andre Jackson Jr. +650

The Slam Dunk Contest has lost a little shine in recent years, but still has the potential to be exciting! There is another potential three-peat on the table as G Leaguer Mac McClung (-200) is going for his third straight title, and is the overwhelming favorite in these 2025 Slam Dunk Contest odds!

Stephen Castle (+550) has shown some hops this season for the Spurs, while Andre Jackson Jr. (+650) of Milwaukee could shock some people. Chicago’s Matas Buzelis (+550) is 6’10”, and taller players are usually penalized for their height, unless they do something outlandish.

Celebrity Game Winner

TEAMODDS
Team Jerry Rice-130
Team Barry Bonds-110

Team Rice, helmed by NFL legend and former San Francisco 49ers’ receiver, Jerry Rice, is favored at -130. Keeping with the San Francisco theme, former Giants’ slugger Barry Bonds leads Team Bonds, who comes back at -110. Team Rice has a 56.5% implied win probability, while Team Bonds responds with a 52.5% implied win chance.

Team Rice is led by 14-year NBA veteran Matt Barnes, and he’s joined by Kayla Thornton, who won the WNBA title with the New York Liberty last season and will now play for the expansion Golden State Valkyries. Basketball trainer Chris Brickley could also make some noise, while Druski is on the team for comedy’s sake, but don’t expect much production.

Team Bonds has Baron Davis, who played 15 seasons in the NBA and made two All-Star teams. Joining Davis is Allisha Gray, who plays for the WNBA’s Atlanta Dream, and she won gold in women’s 3×3 basketball at the 2020 Olympics. YouTuber Kai Cenat is also on Team Bonds, but like Druski, Cenat is just mostly here for the jokes.

Celebrity Game MVP

PLAYERODDS
Matt Barnes (Rice)+300
Baron Davis (Bonds)+400
Allisha Gray (Bonds)+400
Kayla Thornton (Rice)+800
Terrell Owens (Rice)+900
Chris Brickley (Bonds)+900
Tucker Halpern (Bonds)+1200
Shelby McEwen (Rice)+1400
Masai Russell (Bonds)+1600
Kai Cenat (Bonds)+1600
Shaboozey (Rice)+1800

It’s no surprise that the former NBA players lead the Celebrity All-Star MVP odds, as Barnes (+300) is just ahead of Davis (+400). Gray (+400) and Thornton (+800) are next, while former NFL star Terrell Owens (+900) and Brickley (+900) are intriguing options. Owens is, in particular, as he has won this award twice.

However, that was back in 2008 and 2009. The 51-year-old said three years ago that he could have run a sub-4.5 40-yard dash in 2022. If you think Owens is still in shape at his age, he would be a great value betting option.

NBA All-Star Weekend 2025 Predictions and Best Bets

Now, let’s make some 2025 NBA All-Star Game predictions!

Rising Stars Betting Pick

I believe the NBA All-Star odds for the Rising Stars Challenge have priced these teams correctly, and I hope we get to see them playing each other in the final game. But I’m going to recommend a wager on Team Mullin at +250 at BetUS as they can either go down low to Edey, or let Castle and/or George drive and kick. If Lakers’ rookie Dalton Knecht can play after his trade to Charlotte was rescinded, that gives them a knock-down shooter.

The Bet
TEAM MULLIN

Skills Challenge Betting Pick

Cleveland’s Evan Mobley has experience in this contest, winning it with teammates Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen in 2022. But I’m going with the guile of Chris Paul, and the otherworldly skills of Victor Wembanyama to take the title back to San Antonio, so bet Team Spurs at +225 at BetUS!

The Bet
TEAM SPURS

3-Point Contest Betting Pick

We saw with the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59, just how hard it is three-peat. Therefore, I’m avoiding “Dame Time” and taking Garland at +600! He’s shooting 43.8% from beyond the arc this season on almost seven attempts, and there’s some great value in his 3-Point Contest odds!

The Bet
DARIUS GARLAND

Slam Dunk Contest Betting Pick

I’ll stick with the chalk and roll with McClung at -200, as he has had all year to work out some new dunks to make the crowd go wild in San Francisco!

The Bet
MAC MCCLUNG

NBA All-Star Winner Betting Pick

As the odds reflect, it’s a two-team race between Teams Chuck and Shaq, and I’m taking the latter at +150. Team Chuck is massive, although swapping out Antetokounmpo for Young hurts their size advantage. Barkley picked four centers in Jokić, Wembanyama, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Alperen Sengun, so you can tell what his game plan is: it’s all about post play.

But I’m still picking Team Shaq and the veteran trio of James, Curry, and Durant. We watched what they did at the Olympics, to the point that Golden State tried to reunite them before the trade deadline. All three know that the All-Star Game has been hammered lately, and they’ll want to put on a show. Combine them with the Boston duo of Tatum and Brown, Lillard, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving, and I’m recommending a wager on Team Shaq at +150!

The Bet
TEAM SHAQ

NBA All-Star MVP Betting Pick

If Curry is anywhere near how he played for the United States in the gold-medal game, he’ll get the MVP award. The last time that a hometown player won the All-Star MVP was in 2017 when Davis won in New Orleans. Durant at +2200 is an interesting option, as is James at +900. It’s an All-Star Game, so literally anyone on the court could win.

But since I’m taking Team Shaq to win, I’m going with the hometown guy, Curry, at +700!

The Bet
STEPHEN CURRY

Celebrity All-Star Game Betting Picks

There isn’t much between the two teams, so I’m taking Team Bonds at -110 to squeeze out a little more value at NBA betting sites. I’m also backing Terrell Owens at +900 to win MVP! He’s already won the award twice, and NFL players have won the last two MVPs: Seattle’s D.K. Metcalf and Dallas’ Micah Parsons. While Owens is 51, I think he’s still in good shape, and he’ll take it seriously (probably too seriously).

I’ll throw in a bonus best bet for the Celebrity Game, and that is Kai Cenat to argue with a referee at +250! This is one of four props involving the YouTube influencer, and something like this is right up his alley, so you can tack that on to the bottom of your NBA betting slip!

The Bet
TEAM BONDS
The Bet
TERRELL OWENS
The Bet
KAI CENAT TO ARGUE WITH A REF
