The 2024-2025 NBA Rookie of the Year odds don’t have a superstar at the top of the list. However, you should consider multiple players for your predictions, as they should impact their team in their maiden NBA season.
I’ll take a look at these ROY odds for the NBA, giving you analysis on the favorites, along with some sleepers to check out. You’ll also get my NBA betting pick for Rookie of the Year at the end!
2024-25 Odds to win NBA Rookie of the Year
The following NBA Rookie of the Year odds are courtesy of BetOnline:
PLAYER | ODDS |
---|---|
Stephon Castle (Spurs) | -600 |
Jaylen Wells (Grizzlies) | +700 |
Zaccharie Risacher (Hawks) | +1000 |
Zach Edey (Grizzlies) | +1400 |
Kel’el Ware (Heat) | +3300 |
Isaiah Collier (Jazz) | +4000 |
After being dropped to the G League, Reed Sheppard’s NBA Rookie of the Year odds collapsed. With the second-shortest price entering the season, Sheppard was my pick, but he is far removed from the NBA Rookie of the Year discussion.
Additionally, Zach Edey (+1400), who entered as the favorite at +350, slid to the fifth spot after the All-Star break. He is back up to fourth. Stephon Castle (-600) and Jaylen Wells (+700) have flown up the board to the top of the board at NBA betting apps. Currently, Castle leads the pack with an implied probability to win of 85.7%, which is up from 55.6% on March 4.
Following Castle and Wells, the odds drop off to Zaccharie Risacher (+1000) and Edey. Risacher was the No. 1 overall pick of the 2024 NBA Draft, but he has the third-best NBA ROY odds in 2024-25. The Atlanta Hawk holds a 9.1% implied chance to win the top rookie honors, which is down from 10% at the beginning of March.
Favorites in the 2024-25 NBA 2024-25 ROY Odds
Let’s see how the favorites in this season’s NBA Rookie of the Year odds look.
Stephon Castle (-600)
Castle is running away with this award, if you trust the NBA ROY odds for 2025! It’s deserved as well, as Castle has gotten better each month. Now that Victor Wembanyama is out for the season, Castle is playing the most minutes he has all season, and it’s paying off! However, his teammates had to let him know that Castle is still a rookie in the NBA.

Since “Wemby” went down after the All-Star break, Castle has increased his scoring to 15.8 points from 12.9 points before the break. His rebounds have gone from 2.8 to 4.6, although his assists have gone down slightly from 3.5 to 3.3. In seven games in March, the Covington, GA native has averaged 20.0 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.3 assists.
Castle still needs to improve his three-point shooting (28.3% on the season), and he is inconsistent from the foul line (63.2% in March). But the 20-year-old is blessed to learn from Chris Paul and now, De’Aaron Fox, and the sky is the limit for Castle.
The players behind him will have to play at an All-NBA level to take this award from Castle. However, his NBA Rookie of the Year odds have absolutely no value anymore at -600.
Jaylen Wells (+700)
Wells has dropped off a bit since the All-Star break, which is partly why they’re such a large gap in these 2025 NBA ROY odds! In 12 post-break games, Wells is averaging 9.3 points, which is down from 11.2 points before the break. His rebounds have gone up from 4.0 to 3.2, and his assists have gone from 1.7 to 1.8.
But his shooting has fallen off a cliff as Wells shot 44.6% before the break, and 37.3% since. His three-point and free-throw shooting have both gone down as well.

The Sacramento, CA native is still playing top-notch defense, which keeps him in the mix. But the offensive slump has taken Wells out of serious consideration. He’ll need a big finish to the season, as well as a massive slump on Castle’s part, to win the NBA Rookie of the Year Award!
Sleepers for the 2024-25 Odds NBA Rookie of the Year
Next, let’s examine the NBA ROY odds for some sleepers that offer more value at NBA betting sites.
1. Zaccharie Risacher (+1000)
The #1 pick in the NBA Draft is better since the All-Star break, and he’s getting more time since the Hawks traded De’Andre Hunter to Cleveland. In 11 games since the break, Risacher’s points have increased from 11.4 to 12.4, his rebounds have gone up from 3.3 to 5.0, and he’s playing three more minutes a game at 26.8.
Zaccharie Risacher in the calendar year 2025 (17 games; 24.5 MPG):
13.1 PPG
3.9 RPG
1.4 APG
1.1 STOCKS/G
49/43/79 shooting splits (4.0 3PA/G)

— Jake (@SuperiorNBA) February 24, 2025
In six March games, the Malaga-born Frenchman has averaged 13.5 points, but his shooting splits are what really catches the eye. Risacher is hitting 53.2% of his attempts from the floor, including 43.8% on 4.1 three-point attempts. He doesn’t turn 20 until April 8, so it’s imperative that people remain patient with Risacher. The talent is there, and he has a great coach in Quin Snyder to guide him. He won’t win the award, despite his NBA Rookie of the Year odds have great value. But the future is bright for Risacher!
2. Zach Edey (+1400)
Edey is starting to come around, but an ankle injury has been bothering him since December, when he was just starting to find his groove. Still, in six March games, Edey has posted 10.0 points, 8.5 boards, and 1.5 blocks in 22.8 minutes of action.

The Toronto native has increased his rebounding output since the break to 8.7 boards, over 7.6 before the break. The Grizzlies have needed those rebounds as Jaren Jackson Jr. is out with his own ankle injury for about a week. “Triple J” is a favorite in the NBA DPOY odds, and Edey is not that. But he’s a big body who is more mobile than he looks. If he can stay healthy, Edey can help Memphis down the stretch!
2024-25 NBA Rookie of the Year Betting Prediction
Wells made it a close battle when I last checked the odds, as he was +250 to -125 for Castle. However, his offensive numbers have fallen off a cliff, while Castle’s have improved. Not only that, Wells is a great defender, but Castle is also very good, if not great on some nights.
I’m predicting Castle to win the award, but I’m not betting his 2025 NBA Rookie of the Year odds. At -600, there is no value at NBA betting sites for the young guard. Perhaps Wells can make one last push, and you’ll find some value on Castle. But right now, I’m staying away from Stephon Castle’s odds, although he’s my NBA ROY prediction.
