Devoted sports fans know that heartbreak is part and parcel of being a loyal supporter. Now, with another nail-biting NFL season wrapped up, which fans have been hit the hardest this season? We’ve decided to find out.
We dug into social media to look at which team’s frustrated fans have written the most sad or angry posts on X, Instagram, and Facebook. Read on to see the top 10 teams with the unhappiest fanbases this season!
10. Chicago Bears
Making tenth place on our list of heartbroken fans is the Chicago Bears fanbase, with a total of 216,930 upset posts on social media.
18% of upset posts from fans were sad, while 23% included angry sentiment this NFL season. Like the Steelers fans, Gameweek 5 was tough for the Bears fanbase. Emotions ran highest on October 6th, when 25,140 posts went out across social channels revealing fan despair.
9. Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers fans came in ninth, with 222,330 heartbroken posts this season.
October 9th, during Gameweek 5, was the most emotional day for Steelers fans, when 19,540 upset posts were shared on social media. 14% of total posts from the Steelers fanbase were sad in sentiment, but 27% were angry during this season’s games.
8. Green Bay Packers
Fans of the Green Bay Packers also made our list, with 230,150 heartbroken posts shared this season.
While 13% of posts from fans were considered sad, 24% of posts across social media were angry. The day upset reached its highest point for Packers fans was January 21st during the Divisional Round, when 40,030 emotional posts were shared by frustrated fans.
7. New York Jets
With 267,400 heartbroken posts this season, the New York Jets fanbase came in seventh place for most upset.
11% of posts from Jets fans included sad sentiment, but 21% were angry. The most emotional day for the fanbase was September 12th during Gameweek 1, when 26,780 upset posts were shared on social media.
6. Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore Ravens fans came in sixth, with 296,810 heartbroken posts in total.
Upset for Ravens fans hit its peak on January 28th during the Conference Championship, with a massive 67,070 upset posts on that day alone! 19% of total posts from Ravens fans were sad, while 25% were of angry sentiment this season.
5. Miami Dolphins
With 298,290 heartbroken posts, the Miami Dolphins fanbase was the fifth most upset this NFL season.
17% of Dolphins fans’ posts featured sad sentiment, while 21% were angry. Like the Cowboys fanbase, upset peaked for the Dolphins fans on January 14th during the Wildcard Round, with 30,520 heartbroken posts.
4. Detroit Lions
Fans of the Detroit Lions were the fourth most upset this NFL season, sharing 315,030 heartbroken posts.
13% of social posts were sad, while 19% included angry sentiment. Heartbreak reached a peak for Lions fans on January 29th during the Conference Championship, with a whopping 51,190 upset posts hitting social media that day!
3. Buffalo Bills
With 331,930 heartbroken posts in total, fans of the Buffalo Bills were the third most upset this season.
Upset for Bills’ fans peaked on January 22nd during the Divisional Round, with 45,400 posts going out on social media that day alone. 13% of total posts from fans were sad in sentiment, while 25% expressed anger this season.
2. Philadelphia Eagles
In close second, as most heartbroken this season, are the Philadelphia Eagles fans, with 383,230 devastated posts.
17% of posts expressed sad sentiment, but 29% were angry. The worst day for Eagles fans was January 16th, also during the Wildcard Round, with 40,730 heartbroken posts!
1. Dallas Cowboys
Coming in at number one are the Dallas Cowboys fans, with a total of 389,150 heartbroken posts this NFL season.
15% of posts were sad, while 21% were of angry sentiment. Upset peaked for fans on January 14th during the Wildcard Round, when a total of 34,860 heartbroken posts were shared across social media.
There you have it — the most heartbroken fanbases after the latest NFL season. Some you might have expected, and some teams you may have assumed would be higher up the list.

Methodology
To create this data, we used Brandwatch’s social sentiment tool, using the emotion tool and gathering how many ‘angry’ and ‘sad’ posts were made about each team in the NFL. After collecting this data, we ranked each team by how many posts were made about them.
