Paris 2024 Women’s 100m Freestyle Odds and Prediction

SWIMMERODDS
Mollie O’Callaghan (AUS)+110
Siobhan Haughey (HKG)+220
Marrit Steenbergen (NED)+450
Shayna Jack (AUS)+1000
Kate Douglass (USA)+1300

Australia swimmer Mollie O’Callaghan enters the 100m event as the betting favorite to win at Paris 2024. The Aussies always bring a competitive swimming team to the Summer Games; this year is no different. As a +110 favorite, she has a 47.6% implied chance to win gold.

O’Callaghan made her Olympics debut at Tokyo 2020 and made the most out of her first appearance. Currently, 20 years old, she made a huge splash as a 17-year-old.

The Australian took home two gold medals and a bronze! O’Callaghan played an integral role in Team Australia’s dominance in team relay races. They captured the gold in the 4x100m freestyle relay and 4x200m freestyle relay in Japan.

Now, O’Callaghan is out for individual glory in the pool at Paris 2024. She’s coming off gold-medal performances at the 2024 NSW Championships, 2024 AUS Championships, and 2024 AUS Olympic Trials. In her latest effort, O’Callaghan was clocked at 52.33 seconds on June 14!

Her closest rival, Siobhan Haughey, was most recently timed at 52.78, 52.72, and 52.76 seconds. Haughey hasn’t recorded a faster time than 52.33 since last year. If O’Callaghan has a bad start or a rare off day, Haughey can take the gold.

However, if O’Callaghan is in her usual form, she should edge out this field for the gold medal. The favorite’s Olympics swimming betting odds to win the 100m freestyle are a strong value at +110!

Paris 2024 Women’s 800m Freestyle Betting Odds and Prediction

SWIMMERODDS
Katie Ledecky (USA)-380
Ariarne Titmus (AUS)+550
Li Bingjie (CHN)+1500
Lani Pallister (AUS)+1800
Simona Quadarella (ITA)+1900

Katie Ledecky is an overwhelming favorite in the Paris 2024 swimming odds for the women’s 800m freestyle. The seven-time gold medal winner has an implied chance to win of 79.2% at -380 odds.

Ledecky hasn’t ruled out participating on home soil at Los Angeles 2028, but there is a chance of the 27-year-old calling it a career before then. There will undoubtedly be added motivation for Ledecky as she enters the tail-end of her illustrious swimming career for Team USA.

At Tokyo 2020, Ledecky won gold in the 800m freestyle with a time of 8:12.57. She was also the winner of the 1500m freestyle for her seventh Olympic gold medal. In addition to her success in the Olympics, Ledecky has captured 21 world championship titles. This is the most of any female swimmer ever.

Although Ledecky is getting older, she is still in unbelievable form. The superstar has won the last nine events she’s entered! She squashed the competition at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 800m freestyle in 8:14.12. Ledecky recorded a time of 8:12.95 two months earlier at the 2024 TYR Pro Series TX.

In what amounts to a duel against Australian rival Ariarne Titmus, Ledecky should have the advantage. Titmus should keep pace with Ledecky to the finish. The 23-year-old recently had a stellar performance to capture the win at the 2024 AUS Olympic Trials with a time of 8:14.06.

Despite this being just enough to beat Ledecky’s 8:14.12, Titmus was clocked at 8:17.87 and 8:17.80 in two races prior. She has the talent but has been more inconsistent than Ledecky at 800m.

Titmus defeated Ledecky in the 400m freestyle at the 2023 World Aquatics Championships, but the American beat her in the 800m freestyle with a time of 8:08.87!

It was Ledecky’s sixth consecutive 800m freestyle title at the World Aquatics Championships — the longest win streak for an event in history. Titmus will be competitive, but Ledecky is the pick.

Summer McIntosh is the only woman to beat Ledecky in the women’s 800m freestyle over the last 13 years, though the 17-year-old Canadian phenom isn’t participating.

While her price isn’t the most alluring at -380, Ledecky is worth including for your 2024 Olympic swimming best bets!

Paris 2024 Men’s 100m Freestyle Betting Odds and Prediction

SWIMMERODDS
Pan Zhanle (CHN)-120
David Popovici (ROM)+185
Jack Alexy (USA)+500
Kyle Chalmers (AUS)+800
Chris Guiliano (USA)+1600

All eyes are on men’s 100m freestyle world record holder Pan Zhanle in a stacked field at Paris 2024. He is a slight betting favorite to win the gold medal over David Popovici. At -120, the rising Chinese star has a 54.5% implied probability to win gold in the men’s 100m freestyle.

In February, Zhanle broke the men’s 100m freestyle record at the 2024 World Championships in the 4x100m freestyle relay in 46.80 seconds. Additionally, swimmer had an incredible time of 46.97 in the men’s 100m at the 2023 Asian Games to become only the third swimmer in history to record sub-47 seconds.

Only two months later, Zhanle did it again at the 2024 CHN Championships. This time, he recorded a time of 46.97. The 19-year-old is an emerging star and has a solid opportunity to continue his dominance at Paris 2024.

Romania’s Popovici is another young swimmer expected to have lots of success. He was regarded as a swimming prodigy since entering the scene a few years ago. Although Popovici hasn’t fully lived up to expectations thus far, he was the previous record holder in the men’s 100m freestyle before Zhanle came forward.

Additionally, Popovici is coming off a tremendous performance at the 2024 LEN Championships. On June 20, 2024, Popovici was clocked in 46.88 seconds, better than Zhanle’s recent work! Look for a battle to the wire between Zhanle and Popovici.

In such a close race, there is solid betting value on Popovici winning gold at +185. Romania isn’t expected to compete with the top nations in the Paris 2024 medal table, but Popovici has a great chance of providing a boost to his country!

2024 Olympics Men’s 200m Freestyle Odds and Betting Pick

SWIMMERODDS
David Popovici (ROM)-230
Lukas Martens (GER)+400
Matt Richards (GBR)+650
Duncan Scott (GBR)+1400
Pan Zhanle (CHN)+1500

While Popovici is not favored to win the gold medal in the men’s 100m freestyle, he is a strong betting favorite to win the 200m freestyle gold at Paris 2024. The Romanian is the star of this event, and it would be a decent upset if any other result happens.

However, should Popovici be part of your 2024 Olympics swimming predictions to win? My answer is yes. Since Matt Richards upset him in July 2023, Popovici has demolished the competition at 200m.

He is coming off a successful defense of his 200m freestyle title at the 2024 LEN Championships in June.

The Romanian completed the event in 1:43.13 after recording 1:44.74 a month earlier in Spain. Popovici is on a four-race win streak in the 200m freestyle. Zhanle is in this race, too, though the 200m event isn’t his strong suit.

Lukas Martens and Matt Richards will swim a strong race, but Popovici is likely too much to handle. With this in mind, consider backing the favorite to win his second gold medal for your Paris 2024 swimming best bets at sports betting sites!
