Jake Paul vs. IShowSpeed Challenge: What We Know?

Earlier this month, social media star turned boxer Jake Paul challenged YouTuber IShowSpeed to a $25,000 race. The rules of the race are simple: the fastest runner in the 40-yard dash will win $25,000.

An additional $10,000 will be awarded to a charity of the winner’s choice! The $25,000 is small money for both of these guys, but the race will undoubtedly bring in a large audience for sponsors.

Currently, there are no details regarding the date of the race. Paul proposed that the race take place in Puerto Rico, where he is training at his warehouse for the upcoming Mike Tyson fight in November.

IShowSpeed vs. Jake Paul Analysis

Before delving into our Jake Paul vs. IShowSpeed race betting pick, let’s take a brief look at both competitors. While neither are track stars, they have some athletic ability.

Are the Paul vs. IShowSpeed odds justified at -2500, though? Check out the analysis below:

Jake Paul (+750)

The 27-year-old Paul is a heavy underdog to beat IShowSpeed. We have seen limited evidence of Paul’s track talents, so he is an unknown heading into this event in Puerto Rico.

That said, Paul has spent the past several years preparing for boxing matches. He has bulked up considerably and put on a lot of weight in anticipation of his bouts.

Paul weighed roughly 200lbs for his latest fight against Mike Perry in July. It was a big 200lbs for Paul. He certainly wasn’t a slimmed down to that weight for the win over Perry.

Additionally, Paul has been preparing to fight “Iron Mike”. The “Problem Child” will be forced to put on even more weight in anticipation of his battle against Tyson.

Nevertheless, I have confidence in Paul taking this assignment seriously and putting in some work to prepare for IShowSpeed. Two years ago, Paul was reportedly clocked at 4.54 seconds in the 40-yard dash.

Was this accurate? Probably not, but he looked fast enough on the sand in the video. In the same year, Paul did the 40-yard dash at the Miami Dolphins training camp, though the official time was not revealed.

IShowSpeed (-2500)

At first look, IShowSpeed, Darren Jackson Watkins Jr., is the obvious pick to beat Paul. He is only 19 years old and not nearly as bulky as Paul. IShowSpeed has been jumping over a Lamborghini and McLaren recently, while Paul prepares for Tyson.

“Speedy” is naturally athletic and continues to push the envelope to impress his audience. Whether it was a pre-recorded edited live stream or not, the fact remains that IShowSpeed can move.

In addition to putting on these stunts, the Ohio native ran the 40-yard dash at the 2024 NFL Draft in April. IShowSpeed was clocked at an incredible 4.44 while wearing foam runners.

It’s important to note, however, that these fan 40-yard dash exhibits are not laser tracked like at the NFL Combine. Just from the eye test, I have my doubts he actually ran a 4.44, but a 4.6 to 4.8 appears reasonable.

That’s still fast for an untrained person in foam runners on thin turf. If he puts in the work to race Paul, “Speed” has a solid chance to clock a quicker time than he did in April!

Jake Paul vs. IShowSpeed Prediction and Best Bet

I will preface by saying that IShowSpeed is the most likely winner. The Paul vs. IShowSpeed odds indicate this, and the common-sense test points to a win for “Speed”.

That being said, laying -2500 is a foolish wager to make. Paying $2,500 to win $100 is not what we consider a winning strategy. Anything could happen in a 40-yard dash that never warrants such a steep price!

What if IShowSpeed is slow out of the blocks, or pulls his hamstring in the race? It isn’t as if Paul is a slug. He is athletic in his own right, and I’m sure will prepare for this event. Any fault for the favorite and Paul can pull off a stunning upset.

So, while I admit that Paul is rightfully an underdog in this spot, he still has some value to win at +750. With this in mind, consider backing Paul to defeat IShowSpeed with a tiny wager at the best sports betting sites!
