As the clear favorite to win The Players Championship, Scottie Scheffler (+350) has the shortest odds at golf betting sites. At +350, the oddsmakers give him a 22.2% implied probability of winning The Players Championship.

Scheffler is coming off a historic season, and oddsmakers favor him to fly out of the gates to win his third consecutive Players Championship title! Rory McIlroy (+800) holds the second-best chance, with an implied probability of 11.1%.

McIlroy is looking to put an end to his majors’ drought in 2025, but first, a win in The Players would be a great start. Xander Schauffele (+1200) and Collin Morikawa (+1600) are being given a decent chance, too, per The Players 2025 odds.

The Players Championship Format and Key Info

The 2025 Players Championship is scheduled for Thursday, March 13 to Friday, March 16, at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra, FL. The tournament will take place on TPC Sawgrass’ PLAYERS Stadium Course.

144 golfers are eligible to participate in The Players Championship —125 of which consist of the top 125 from the 2024 FedExCup fall points list. They are scheduled to play four rounds of stroke play across 7,189 yards on a par 72 course.

The Players Championship is not considered a major, but it offers the largest purse on the PGA Tour at $25 million. The winner’s share includes $4.5 million in winnings.

The Players Championship 2025 Betting Favorites

Before diving into The Players Championship picks, let’s analyze the top four favorites to win the tournament. All four golfers should be in the thick of the action in the final round on Sunday:

Scottie Scheffler (+350)

After a monumental season and back-to-back Players Championship titles, it’s a no-brainer to insert Scheffler as the betting favorite.

He had an unforgettable season on the PGA Tour 2024. Scheffler won seven tournaments, including the Masters, Players Championship, and Tour Championship.

Scheffler’s form was unmatched by competitors in 2024. The PLAYERS Stadium Course is one of Scheffler’s favorite courses. He won by five strokes (-17) over Tyrrell Hatton in 2023 and then edged out Schauffele by one (-20) last year.

With +350 odds to win The Players, public sentiment is up on Scheffler as he enters the start of the marquee events this season. Currently, the star ranks first by a considerable margin in the Official World Golf Ranking.

The 28-year-old native of Dallas, TX, enters TPC Sawgrass with 574.8 points compared to McIlroy’s 386 points.

Tournament Form

Scheffler will play in his fifth tournament of the year in The Players Championship. Despite not winning a tournament, Scheffler was in the hunt for the majority of events. His best finish is T3 in the Genesis Open at Torrey Pines on Feb. 16.

Recent 2025 Results:

    • T11 – Arnold Palmer Invitational (March 9)
    • T3 – The Genesis Open (Feb. 16)
    • T25 – WM Phoenix Open (Feb. 9)
    • T9 – AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (Feb. 2)

Scheffler 2025 Stats:

Despite not winning any tournaments in 2025, Scheffler remains near the top of many crucial statistical metrics.

    • Scoring Average: 15th (28.92)
    • SG Total: 3rd (1.829)
    • SG Off the Tee: 50th (0.289)
    • SG Approach the Green: 7th (0.960)
    • SG Around the Green: 74th (0.092)
    • SG Putting: 30th (0.488)

Rory McIlroy (+800)

McIlroy hasn’t won a major championship since the PGA Championship in 2014! At the time, it appeared that he was well on his way to stacking major trophies for the next decade. Over 10 years later, McIlroy is still searching for a major.

Nevertheless, McIlroy has still enjoyed success. He’s won eight tournaments since the 2022 season. Additionally, McIlroy captured the FedExCup title in 2016, 2019, and 2022. The majors haven’t been there for the native of Northern Ireland, but success has still followed him.

In 2019, McIlroy won his first Players Championship. Is he on course to win his second title this year?

Tournament Form

McIlroy has already grabbed a win on the PGA Tour this year. He cleared the field in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am to win with a final score of -21 over Shane Lowry’s -19. He’s coming off a respectable showing in the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill.

Recent 2025 Results:

    • T15 – Arnold Palmer Invitational (March 9)
    • T17 – The Genesis Open (Feb. 16)
    • 1st – AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (Feb. 2)
    • T4 – Dubai Desert Classic (Jan. 19)

McIlroy 2025 Stats:

Thanks to his big driver, McIlroy is off to a promising start this season. He’s consistently been the best player on the PGA leading up to The Players Championship.

However, does he have the best value for your 2025 Players Championship picks? We’ll get into that later, but for now, check out these impressive numbers from McIlroy.

    • Scoring Average: 1st (69.00)
    • SG Total: 1st (2.162)
    • SG Off the Tee: 1st (1.323)
    • SG Approach the Green: 28th (0.521)
    • SG Around the Green: 34th (0.269)
    • SG Putting: 93rd (0.050)

Xander Schauffele (+1200)

Schauffele remains one of the most reliable golfers on the PGA Tour. Although he couldn’t keep up with Scheffler’s unbelievable effort in 2024, Schauffele is typically always competing for a title on Sunday afternoons.

He won two tournaments a season ago and came close in several more. In the three FedExCup events, Schauffele finished in the top 5. Appearing in just two tournaments this year, we’ll see if he can snap into form after struggling in the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Tournament Form

If anything, Schauffele should be fresh for The Players Championship. He is coming off only his second outing since early January due to an injury. It’s difficult to evaluate his current form, but the 31-year-old San Diego native typically brings his “A” game in marquee events.

Last year, Schauffele had a terrific performance in The Players. He shot a -19 to put him just one stroke behind Scheffler.

It’s the second consecutive year that Schauffele finished in the top 20 at TPC Sawgrass on the PLAYERS Stadium Course. Nevertheless, he missed time with an injury recently, so he’s a wildcard entering TPW Sawgrass.

Recent 2025 Results:

    • T40 – Arnold Palmer Invitational (March 9)
    • T30 – The Sentry (Jan. 5)

Schauffele 2024 Stats:

Since Schauffele has only played in two tournaments this year, I will rewind to his production from last year. This provides us with a much better snapshot of his ability.

If you want to include only those two starts in 2025, then Schauffele is well behind the field. He was well off the mark in both tournaments this year! However, a larger sample size from 2024 paints a much stronger picture.

    • Scoring Average: 2nd (68.52)
    • SG Total: 2nd (1.941)
    • SG Off the Tee: 10th (0.557)
    • SG Approach the Green: 6th (0.678)
    • SG Around the Green: 42nd (0.195)
    • SG Putting: 12th (0.510)

Collin Morikawa (+1600)

Could Morikawa be the breakout star of the 2025 season? It’s entirely possible that Morikawa will finally reach his full potential this year. He has been very consistent but is yet to enter superstar territory.

Nevertheless, Morikawa has won two major championships, with the PGA Championship in 2020 and The Open just months later in 2021. He also came close at the Masters this past year in T3.

I’m confident that Morikawa will bring a full effort in 2025 and score some big wins. With nine top 5 finishes over the last two seasons, Morikawa is ready for huge things this year.

Tournament Form

Morikawa heads into The Players after a strong performance in the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He went right down to the wire with Russell Henley but ultimately lost by a stroke.

The 28-year-old from Los Angeles, CA, is heading in the right direction with The Players Championship right around the corner.

Recent 2025 Results:

    • T2 – Arnold Palmer Invitational (March 9)
    • T17 – The Genesis Open (Feb. 16)
    • T17 – AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (Feb. 2)
    • 2nd – The Sentry (Jan. 5)

Morikawa 2025 Stats:

Morikawa is off to a quick start and is among the best performers through four tournaments on the PGA Tour. That being said, Morikawa’s Players Championship 2025 betting odds don’t reflect this sentiment.

You wouldn’t know Morikawa is playing this well given his +1600 price to win at TPC Sawgrass! If Morikawa can maintain his current numbers and form, he is one of the best Players Championship picks.

    • Scoring Average: 4th (68.50)
    • SG Total: 2nd (1.856)
    • SG Off the Tee: 37th (0.341)
    • SG Approach the Green: 10th (0.908)
    • SG Around the Green: 74th (0.092)
    • SG Putting: 27th (0.515)

Best Players Championship 2025 Longshot Bets

Before diving into my best bet to win, let’s evaluate The Players Championship betting picks you should consider for sleeper selections! There are some juicy odds on the board, so let’s dig straight into our best underdog bets:

  1. 1. Tommy Fleetwood (+3000)

34-year-old Englishman Tommy Fleetwood stands out as one of the best Players Championship bets for the eventual winner! At +3000, we are getting serious value on Fleetwood to stand on top at TPC Sawgrass.

The veteran enters in tremendous form after solid performances in The Genesis Open and Arnold Palmer Invitational. Fleetwood finished T5 and T11 against competitive fields this year. Shockingly, he has never won a PGA Tour event despite coming close in the past.

Fleetwood has finished in the top 5 in all four majors! Last year, Fleetwood was T3 in the Masters, and two years prior he finished T5 in the PGA Championship. He’s the best golfer in the world who has never won a title, and given his recent form, stands a good chance at TPC Sawgrass!

  2. 2. Wyndham Clark (+5000)

At these excellent Players Championship odds, it’s tough to fade Wyndham Clark. The 31-year-old veteran enters with three wins since the 2022-23 season. He won the 2023 US Open and the 2023 Wells Fargo Championship.

Last year, Clark scored a victory in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and had eight top-10 performances! In 21 events, Clark was also the runner-up twice. He’s coming off two quality efforts in The Genesis Open for T5 and T11 in the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

This looks like a great opportunity for Clark, so at +5000, a small bet is worth a look!

The Players Championship 2025 Predictions and Betting Pick

Along with my longshot Players Championship picks, I have one more golfer to add to the card as a best bet. The way I view this tournament, Morikawa is the perfect combination of value and a strong probability of winning.

He is being overlooked heading into this tournament at +1600. That’s a big price for a golfer entering TPC Sawgrass with plenty of confidence and swinging his clubs like he has been recently.

Despite missing out on the Arnold Palmer Invitational, he was right there in the final round. It’s the second runner-up finish from Morikawa this year, and I think there’s a solid chance he turns silver into gold this week!

With this in mind, consider backing Morikawa for your Players Championship 2025 predictions.
