Super Bowl 59 MVP Odds and Predictions: Who Can Stop Mahomes?

Super Bowl 59 MVP Odds and Predictions: Who Can Stop Mahomes?

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes leads the pack in the updated Super Bowl MVP odds. The quarterback has won the award three times in the last five seasons, but Kansas City will have to complete a three-peat for Mahomes to have a shot at the award this season.

Saquon Barkley, Jalen Hurts, and the rest of the Philadelphia Eagles roster will do their best to stop the Chiefs’ three-peat attempt and claim the MVP for themselves. Keep reading for the latest odds and my Super Bowl MVP predictions for this year’s Big Game.

All but one Super Bowl MVP has been from the winning team, and the award usually goes to a quarterback. Kansas City is the 1.5-point favorite for this year’s Big Game, and Patrick Mahomes is the +115 favorite to win MVP in the latest Super Bowl odds.

Saquon Barkley (+250) and Jalen Hurts (+300) are a close second and third in the latest 2025 Super Bowl MVP betting odds. Barkley has carried the Eagles to the Big Game, and Hurts has a chance to avenge his loss to Mahomes on Super Bowl Sunday two years ago.

The odds fade quickly after the top three, but that can be good news for bettors. Super Bowl 59 MVP sleepers offer huge payout potential for NFL fans! If you like something you see, check out Bovada where these odds are available.

Top Super Bowl 59 MVP Favorites

Every player suiting up for Super Bowl 59 has a shot at winning MVP, but the favorites stand out for a reason. Let’s take a closer look at the top three contenders in the updated Super Bowl 59 MVP odds.

Patrick Mahomes (+115)

The Chiefs are attempting to win their fourth Super Bowl in six seasons. In each of their previous wins during their current run, Patrick Mahomes has gone home with the MVP. That’s why he is the +115 favorite to win his fourth career Super Bowl MVP.

Kansas City’s offense has underwhelmed in recent years, but the Chiefs have a habit of stepping up their game in the Super Bowl. In his four previous appearances in the Big Game, Mahomes has averaged the following:

    • 2% completion percentage
    • 8 passing YPG
    • 8 passing TDs
    • 3 interceptions

Mahomes’s career Super Bowl averages are dragged down by the team’s poor showing in their Super Bowl 55 loss. He had no passing TDs and completed just 53.1% of his pass attempts. Mahomes has had at least two passing TDs in each of his other three Super Bowl appearances.

I expect more of the same in 2025, so Mahomes is a strong bet, even at +115.

Saquon Barkley (+250)

The player with the best Super Bowl odds for MVP for the Eagles is Saquon Barkley. After spending the first part of his career with New York, Barkley left the Giants this offseason and signed with the rival Eagles.

Barkley is listed at +250 to win the MVP in his first Super Bowl appearance. He ran for over 2,000 rushing yards in the regular season and has continued to plow over teams in the playoffs. So far this postseason, Barkley has racked up the following stats:

    • 442 rushing yards
    • 2 rush YPG
    • 5 rushing touchdowns
    • 15 first downs

If he continues his historic pace, Barkley could lead the Eagles to an upset win and claim MVP honors in the process. However, the Chiefs have been outstanding at stopping opposing teams’ lead running backs. Barkley also appeared to hurt his calf in the Eagles’ NFC title win over the Commanders.

Jalen Hurts (+300)

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts lost his Big Game debut two years ago. He has already made history by leading the Eagles back to the Super Bowl this season. Including Hurts, the last 18 quarterbacks to lose their Big Game debut failed to return to the Super Bowl.

Hurts ended that streak, which lasted 30 seasons, and he can end the Chiefs’ three-peat attempts on Super Bowl Sunday. With a win, Hurts would also end Kansas City’s nine-game playoff win streak.

Stopping the Chiefs will be easier said than done, but Hurts had the game of his life against KC two years ago. The Brotherly Shove all but guarantees Hurts will score at least once, and he will have an edge with the MVP voters as the quarterback if Philly wins. That’s a big if, though.

2025 Super Bowl MVP Sleepers

The current Super Bowl odds for the MVP offer plenty of enticing dark horse candidates. Here are my top three sleeper picks for this year’s Big Game MVP.

  1. 1. Travis Kelce (+1550)

Chiefs Tight End Travis Kelce van cut the cherry on top of his Hall of Fame career this Super Bowl Sunday. Kelce is just 206 yards behind Jarry Rice for the most postseason receiving yards in a career. He is also just two touchdowns shy of Rice’s record 22 playoff TDs.

Kelce already broke Rice’s record for playoff receptions and most playoff games with 100+ receiving yards. If Kelce can add more records to his resume in Super Bowl 59, he could also become the first tight end ever to win Super Bowl MVP.

Beating out your quarterback for MVP is tough for a skill position player, but it has been done before. Since 2000, five receivers, Cooper Kupp, Julian Edelman, Santonio Holmes, Hines Ward, and Deion Branch, have won the award over their QBs. Kelce is more of a receiver than a traditional tight end but beating out Mahomes for the award will still be challenging.

That said, the odds for him are too good to ignore and deserve a small wager.

  2. 2. Chris Jones (+6000)

Defensive MVPs are also rare, especially in the age of offense. Only 10 defensive players have won Super Bowl MVP honors; just three of those winners have come in the last 24 years. Chiefs’ All-Pro DT has the best odds of any defender to win MVP of the Big Game this year at +6000.

Jones is tied for the eight-best odds with Eagles’ DL Jalen Carter. His presence on the defensive line has helped KC build a dynasty. However, Jones’s postseason stat lines do not jump off the page, earning just 3.5 sacks and 6 TFLs in his 21 postseason games.

Despite his lackluster stats, there is no doubt that Jones is the key to KC’s stellar defense. He needs to play well for the Chiefs to stop Barkley. Jones also needs to pressure Hurts and build up a respectable box score to be in the MVP discussion.

  3. 3. Zack Baun (+8000)

Jalen Carter (+6000) has the best MVP Super Bowl odds of any Eagles defender. However, I think Zack Baun is the Philly defender to bet on if you want a sleeper Big Game MVP. Baun was an All-Pro this year and finished third in the NFL in solo tackles this season with 82.

He was also tied for the sixth-most combined tackles with 151 and had 3.5 sacks in the regular season. Baun will be a key part of stopping the Chiefs’ run game and keeping a lid on Travis Kelce.

Non-pass rushing linebackers are odd picks for Super MVP, but it has happened before. Two of the three defensive MVPs since 2000, Ray Lewis (2000) and Malcolm Smith (2013), were MLBs. If Baun continues his breakout season and helps the Philly defense take over Super Bowl 59, he will be in the MVP conversation.

NFL Super Bowl 59 MVP Predictions

Betting on Super Bowl MVP odds is one of the most popular ways to wager on the Big Game. Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the favorite to win his third straight Big Game MVP at +115

Mahomes did not post impressive stats in the regular season last year but stepped up his game and won Super Bowl 58 MVP. I think we will see a similar result this year, with Mahomes completing the three-peat and claiming MVP honors for the fourth time in his career. His team is too good and the quarterback often rises to the occasion when it matters the most.

Sleeper candidates do claim the Super Bowl MVP every now and then. If I had to pick a sleeper, it would be Travis Kelce. Kelce is 35 years old, and this could be his last go-around with the Chiefs. Mahomes could feed his best friend on the team to help him break Jerry Rice’s records and win an MVP.

The odds for Kelce are good enough to back him as a secondary option, so here are my final Super Bowl MVP picks for 2025.
