The Amazing Race 37 Odds and Prediction (Updated After Each Episode)

TEAMODDS
Nick and Mike Fiorito+100
Carson McCalley and Jack Dodge +160
Jonathan and Ana Towns+300
Brett Hamby and Mark Romain +500
Alyssa and Josiah Borden+1000
Han and Holden Nyugen+1200
Melinda and Erika Papadeas+1400
Jeff “Pops” and Jeff Bailey+1400

I’m not sure what the entertainment betting sites are seeing, but the brother duo of Nick and Mike Fiorito is at the top.

The two are not only still the favorites, according to The Amazing Race odds, but their price has shortened since last week. The Fiorito brothers were +200 last week, but have seen their odds slashed in half, and they now have an implied win chance of 50% to win Season 37.

This is despite not finishing better than fifth (and their top finish came in the opening episode). They finished seventh in Episode 5, and the bookies have far more faith in the brothers than I do.

The gamer duo of Carson McCalley and Jack Dodge (+160) are next with an implied win chance of 38.5%, and they’ve finished second in each of the last three legs. Right behind them is the married couple of Jonathan and Ana Towns (+300), who didn’t make any friends with their use of the Driver’s Seat in Episode 4. They barely made it through Episode 5, but still have an implied chance to win of 25%, according to oddsmakers.

Brett Hamby and Mark Romain (+500) had the best day of all as they finished seventh in the fourth leg, but surged to the front to win the fifth leg! Their Amazing Race odds have shortened just a little from +550 to +500, and I would have them above the Fiorito brothers!

The Amazing Race Recap – Episode 5

The episode started with a bang as there was a live U-Turn, in which Jonathan and Ana received the U-Turn, as did Lori and Scott. The teams stayed in Indonesia, and the U-Turn meant the two teams had to complete both sides of the Detour.

Coconuts had teams deliver 60 coconuts by bike to a café, and stack them. Teams had to put five different coral types to a reef star, go out to a buoy, and put them in the ocean for coral reef restoration. Obviously, having to do both meant the U-Turn teams were well behind. Jonathan and Ana would have loved to have the Express Pass they used in Episode 4.

Next was the Roadblock, where one team member had to paddle out and find a person on a surfboard that had an identical decal on their board. When they got it, it would send them to their next clue, which was a race to the Pit Stop.

Everyone struggled with the Detour, although Lori and Scott got through Coconuts quickly. However, they had a lot of difficulty with Coral. Jonathan and Ana got sidelined by Coral as Ana has a fear of water, due to an incident as a child. Then, Jonathan was overheated and got a headache, and was continuously snarky with Ana, who tried to be encouraging. Countless people are over Jonathan this season.

Meanwhile, at the other end, Brett and Mark powered through the Detour and were the first to the Pit Stop, which was the Taksu Art Stage on Nusa Dua Beach. They won a cool $10,000 for their efforts. They were followed by Carson and Jack, and Alyssa and Josiah, who have been improving over the last three legs. The father/son team of Pops and Jeff moved from ninth to fourth, followed by Han and Holden, Melinda and Erika, and Nick and Mike.

It was down to the U-Turn teams, and Jonathan managed to pull it together enough to make it to the mat with Ana. That left Scott and Lori, and they were eliminated. Overall, other teams got tired of their “we’re a weak team” act, which grew weary when they finished in the top three each week.

With Lori and Scott gone, I’m making Brett and Mark my Amazing Race prediction at +500! They showed a lot in Episode 4, when a taxi took them 40 minutes in the wrong direction. But they didn’t panic, the married couple just got on with it and finished seventh. They’re in excellent shape, so the physicality of the tasks in Episode 5 didn’t seem to bother them at all.

I also like Carson and Jack, but Brett and Mark offer more value, so they’re my Amazing Race prediction! at BetOnline!

Stay tuned for next week, as the teams head from Indonesia to Dubai for the sixth leg of The Amazing Race!
