UFC 300 Betting Odds, Predictions, And Picks: Pereira vs. Hill

The UFC 300 odds suggest we will have a very competitive main event between Alex Pereira and Jamahal Hill. The top UFC sportsbooks online expect a few other close fights on Saturday, April 13, so the card should be a blast for MMA fans.

Pereira will be defending his light heavyweight title against Hill, while Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway will fight for the BMF belt, so there’s a lot on the line.

Alex Pereira vs. Jamahal Hill Odds, Prediction, and Betting Pick

All odds for UFC 300 are courtesy of BetOnline.

  • Alex Pereira (-145)
  • Jamahal Hill (+125)

Many fight fans were likely anticipating a main event with a larger draw than Alex Pereira (9-2-0) and Jamahal Hill (12-1-0). Nevertheless, the fight for the light heavyweight title should be an entertaining contest at T-Mobile Arena.

Pereira won the belt with a right-left combination to end Jiri Prochazka’s night at 4:08 of the second round at UFC 295, while Hill earned the right to face the champ following a win for the light heavyweight title over Glover Teixeira at UFC 283.

The 32-year-old had to vacate the belt after rupturing his Achilles tendon to open the door for Pereira to become light heavyweight champion. Now, with Hill healthy and able to fight again, the Brazilian has a chance to prove himself against the former champ.

Despite the UFC 300 odds favoring a Pereira win, Hill is budding with confidence entering this fight. This isn’t surprising from a man, who is never shy about saying what he thinks.

In a recent interview with Bodog, “Sweet Dreams” said that the fight is a mismatch.

I feel like I’m just better. I’ve said it in multiple interviews and people just don’t believe me. I am truly just better than he is, period. That’s just the way it is. I’m better than him everywhere, and I don’t want to keep saying it. I just want to get out there and show it.

Nevertheless, questions remain regarding how healthy Hill’s ankle is only one year after a full Achilles tear.

Pereira vs. Hill is about as close as you can get on paper. This light heavyweight bout features two 6-foot-4 fighters with a 79-inch reach. The challenger is younger than Pereira by four years, but it shouldn’t be a significant factor.

Hill is a well-rounded southpaw with knockout power in his arsenal. He is an adequate grappler, but is more of a striker with dangerous knees. Also, Hill has great timing and picks his spots well.

Despite not being a master of anything specifically, Hill is above average in several areas. That makes him difficult to prepare for, as he has no glaring weaknesses in his strategy.

Pereira employs a unique fighting style that favors his superior kickboxing skills. “Poatan” blends kickboxing with a long reach and athleticism. Naturally, Pereira is going into the Hill fight with incredible power and hand speed, as well.

Fighter Recent Form

Pereira Recent Results:

  • Nov. 11, 2023 – WIN vs. Jiri Prochazka (KO/TKO)
  • July 29, 2023 – WIN vs. Jan Blachowicz (Split Decision)
  • April 8, 2023 – LOSS vs. Israel Adesanya (KO/TKO)
  • Nov. 12, 2022 – WIN vs. Israel Adesanya (KO/TKO)

Pereira has responded nicely since dropping the belt to Adesanya at UFC 287. After winning via split decision against Jan Blachowicz, Pereira put on an impressive display this past November to beat Jiri Prochazka.

The Czech fighter’s night ended after Pereira caught him with a left hook and then added several elbows at 4:08 of the second round. If Pereira is in similar form against Hill, this fight could have the same conclusion.

Hill Recent Results:

  • Jan. 21, 2023 – WIN vs. Glover Teixeira (Unanimous Decision)
  • Aug. 6, 2022 – WIN vs. Thiago Santos (KO/TKO)
  • Feb. 19, 2022 – WIN vs. Johnny Walker (KO/TKO)
  • Dec. 4, 2021 – WIN vs. Jimmy Crute (KO/TKO)

Hill is riding a four-fight winning streak into UFC 300. In his last loss, “Sweet Dreams” lost via KO against Paul Craig at UFC 263 in 2021.

In his last two, Hill ended Thiago Santos’ night in the fourth round and went the distance with Teixeira for a unanimous decision win.

Pereira vs. Hill Betting Pick

Hill is 12-1-0 going into the biggest fight of his career against Pereira. The issue many people have with him is the overall level of competition faced so far.

Defeating an aging Santos didn’t move the meter much. Teixeira is nearly 45 years old and managed to go the distance with Hill. He needs a win over Pereira to cement his position as a top fighter in the UFC.

However, I see Pereira overwhelming Hill with an assortment of combos. Remember that the contender is coming off a major injury. I expect him to be rusty and the champion will be very aggressive throughout the fight.

Look for Pereira to use strong leg kicks to wear Hill down — something that he hasn’t experienced much of in past fights. For my Alex Pereira vs. Jamahal Hill prediction, I see Hill getting caught with an elbow or left hand and wobbling to a loss in the main event at UFC 300.

While Hill is expectedly confident about his chances just weeks before the fight, I have concerns with his ankle. Even though Hill may not suffer another injury, he likely won’t be as explosive as he typically is in fights. That removes a significant advantage for “Sweet Dreams” in this bout.

The odds for the champion are very tempting, so I’m backing him.

The Bet
Alex Pereira

Justin Gaethje vs. Max Holloway Odds, Prediction, and Betting Pick

  • Justin Gaethje (-210)
  • Max Holloway (+180)

In a fight that has main event potential, Justin Gaethje (25-4-0) and Max Holloway (25-7-0) fight for the “BMF” title and an opportunity to face lightweight champion Islam Makhachev in the future.

Coming off an impressive win in a rematch against Dustin Poirier at UFC 291, Gaethje can’t afford a letdown spot against Holloway.

This is a tremendous opportunity for Gaethje to pick up some steam, or it could be a major letdown and turning point in his career.

Gaethje’s UFC 300 predictions are for a gruesome finish in Las Vegas. He projects that a doctor’s stoppage will be the only thing stopping him from inflicting more damage on Holloway.

Max Holloway is a legend, probably the only person on the UFC roster that checks every single box of being a BMF so I have a lot of respect for him. However, this is my job and I’m going to try and f**k him up. I will finish Max, he may not go away the traditional way, but I think I will inflict damage to where the doctors need to stop it. We are about to paint a violent picture and no two better guys to go out there and put on a show.

Is this how the fight will unfold at UFC 300? Following my Pereira vs. Hill prediction, let’s examine my Gaethje vs. Holloway picks for the next biggest bout on the card.

Tale of The Tape & Fighting Styles

5’11”Height5’11”
156 lbsWeight146 lbs

Max Holloway is moving up in weight to face Gaethje for the “BMF” title. Gaethje has a sizable advantage over Holloway. He is the bigger and stronger fighter, with a slight reach advantage on Holloway.

Otherwise, their height is equal, and they have the same number of wins with 25 in their MMA careers.

Holloway is an orthodox fighter known for his relentless offense and insane chin. The brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu throws a ton of punches and can take a lot of punishment.

While he’s landed less than 50% of strike attempts, Holloway has made a career out of being aggressive in the UFC1. Gaethje’s fighting style is more methodical, though still aggressive. He’s connected on 60% of strikes in his career2.

He has a high-octane motor that can withstand plenty of abuse. We might have a war on our hands, so let’s dig a bit deeper to see who is more likely to win.

Fighter Recent Form

Gaethje Recent Results:

  • July 29, 2023 – WIN vs. Dustin Poirier (KO/TKO)
  • March 18, 2023 – WIN vs. Rafael Fiziev (Majority Decision)
  • May 7, 2022 – LOSS vs. Charles Oliveira (Submission)
  • Nov. 6, 2021 – WIN vs. Michael Chandler (Unanimous Decision)

The last time we saw Gaethje, he KO’d Poirier with an accurate right kick to the head in July 2023 for the “BMF” title. It was a strong effort to follow up his win months earlier against Rafael Fiziev.

Holloway Recent Results:

  • Aug. 26, 2023 – WIN vs. Chan Sung Jung (KO/TKO)
  • April 15, 2023 – WIN vs. Arnold Allen (Unanimous Decision)
  • July 2, 2022 – LOSS vs. Alexander Volkanovski (Unanimous Decision)
  • Nov. 13, 2021 – WIN vs. Yair Rodriguez (Unanimous Decision)

Holloway will step up not only in weight class, but it’s a step up in the class of his opponent. The Hawaiian striker will face the strongest fighter since losing to Alexander Volkanovski in 2022.

Gaethje vs. Holloway Betting Pick

The next pick of our UFC 300 fight predictions includes Gaethje dispatching Holloway to retain the “BMF” belt. Holloway is a tough fighter and has a little more than a puncher’s chance at winning this match.

That said, the size discrepancy is likely going to come into play for Holloway as a lightweight. Size and power will work in Gaethje’s favor at UFC 300. If he was the one switching weight classes, Holloway would have had a better chance.

In this case, Max’s volume of punches comes at a disadvantage. He dishes out plenty of strikes, but also receives them.

That isn’t going to work well against a striker of Gaethje’s caliber, so I’m going with Justin in my UFC 300 betting picks.

The Bet
Justin Gaethje

Aleksandar Rakic vs. Jiri Prochazka Odds, Prediction, and Betting Pick

  • Aleksandar Rakic (-134)
  • Jiri Prochazka (+114)

In one of the most underrated fights on the card, Aleksandar Rakic will return to the Octagon following a long layoff. He will face Prochazka, who has a short turnaround after losing to Pereira at UFC 295.

The fight has been moved down to the prelims, which makes for the most highly anticipated early bout on the April 13 card.

Rakic has been off since blowing out his knee against Jan Blachowicz in May 2022. Will the long layoff hurt him? Is Prochazka’s short break a mistake?

Prochazka views this fight as a steppingstone to facing the winner of the Pereira vs. Hill match. Hill has already stated that he’s open to fighting Prochazka if they both win their fights at UFC 300.

I believe, after that fight [UFC 295], after that early end of the fight. If I win next week and I hope and believe I’m able to win.. I deserve a title shot.

Let’s get into more UFC betting tips for the UFC 300 card in Las Vegas.

Rakic has been criticized in the past for a boring fighting style. He’s a light heavyweight who likes to maintain distance and pick his spots during fights. The guy’s pretty much the opposite of Prochazka who likes to tag his opponent at every opportunity.

Rather than go for the kill, Rakic is a safe and patient fighter. The Serb is comfortable wrestling on the ground and picking up points to win by a decision.

In competing styles, Prochazka attempts to end fights early as an explosive orthodox striker. Whoever drives the bout in his comfort zone should be able to win.

Fighter Recent Form

Rakic Recent Results:

  • May 14, 2022 – LOSS vs. Jan Blachowicz (KO/TKO)
  • March 6, 2021 – WIN vs. Thiago Santos (Unanimous Decision)
  • Aug. 29, 2020 – WIN vs. Anthony Smith (Unanimous Decision)
  • Dec. 21, 2019 – LOSS vs. Volkan Oezdemir (Split Decision)

Rakic hasn’t won a fight in just over three years. His latest win was against Santos on March 6, 2021. The 32-year-old earned the right to face Jan Blachowicz a year later, but the contest ended with Rakic holding his knee on the mat due to an injury.

Prochazka Recent Results:

  • Nov. 11, 2023 – LOSS vs. Alex Pereira (KO/TKO)
  • June 11, 2022 – WIN vs. Glover Teixeira (Submission)
  • May 1, 2021 – WIN vs. Dominick Reyes (KO/TKO)
  • July 11, 2020 – WIN vs. Volkan Oezdemir (KO/TKO)

Prochazka took a 14-fight winning streak into November against Pereira. Ultimately, his run came to an end with a stoppage in favor of the Brazilian. It was a controversial finish, with many fans believing that Prochazka could have continued.

In his UFC debut, the Czech fighter dispatched Volkan Oezdemir with a vicious second-round knockout at UFC 251 in 2020.

Rakic vs. Prochazka Betting Pick

After recovering from ACL surgery, Rakic gets a huge opportunity in his first fight back in the UFC. Instead of getting an inferior opponent to warm up against, Dana White has Rakic paired with an angry Prochazka who will be looking to bounce back after a defeat.

Generally, a short turnaround isn’t viewed as a positive after getting KO’d. However, it wasn’t the most damaging one, and Prochazka should be able to recover in fine form against Rakic. He is motivated to put the loss behind him and start a new winning streak.

The larger concern is Rakic returning after such a long layoff and ACL surgery. It’s particularly problematic versus an aggressive fighter like Prochazka. Rakic can try and take the fight to the ground, but the Czech is exceptional at getting back on his feet.

Consider Prochazka at +114 as one of your best bets for UFC 300. The Czech MMA artist is a strong value bet at the top online sportsbooks and should’ve been a slight favorite in this match.

The Bet
Jiri Prochazka
