He was efficient from the field on 6-for-9 shooting and 3-for-5 from three. In the first half, Wembanyama recorded six points on 2-for-4 shooting. The big man was placed on the bench after picking up a couple of quick fouls after halftime¹.

Foul trouble was the primary issue for Wembanyama in his NBA regular-season debut. However, head coach Gregg Popovich is not concerned about the fouls that Wembanyama committed in the season opener².

After being drafted by the Spurs with the No. 1 overall pick of the 2023 NBA Draft, Wembanyama signed a four-year contract worth $55,174,766. He will make an average of $13,793,692 during the course of his four-year deal, with roughly $25 million guaranteed.

Wembanyama’s base salary for the 2023-24 season is $12,160,680. His base salary will rise slightly to $12,768,960 for next season. For the 2025-26 and 2026-27 NBA seasons, the Spurs have a player option on Wembanyama’s contract.

If they pick up his option, which everyone assumes they will, Wembanyama will be owed $13,376,880 in 2025-26. The following season, Wembanyama will earn $16,868,246 in the final year of his rookie contract³. Although it’s not as much, card collectors are also getting paid for the Wembanyama hype.

Injuries are a whole different problem, though. With his tall and lanky frame, injury concerns were one of his only negatives⁶. He suffered some notable injuries in Europe, but nothing overly serious. Wembanyama’s Summer League was cut short due to injury concerns⁷.

Do we expect Wembanyama to go a full 82-game schedule without an injury? Popovich won’t shy away from playing Wembanyama, but if he suffers an injury, it’s unlikely that he will want the rookie playing through even a minor ailment.

In 2023-24, the Spurs are expected to win roughly 30 games. Despite Wembanyama’s arrival, the Spurs are not projected to be a playoff team. There is no reason to rush Wembanyama into the lineup if he’s injured.

In fact, the Spurs’ future would likely be in better shape by drafting in the Top 5 again. Pairing Wembanyama with another highly touted prospect has Popovich thrilled.

Expect Popovich to be cautious with Wembanyama if he is dealing with an ailment. It’s highly probable that Wembanyama won’t go a full season without a health issue bothering him. Look for Wemby to play roughly 55 to 60 games in 2023-24.

To Score # Of Points In Any Game

This Victor Wemby points prop bet refers to Wembanyama’s highest-scoring scoring game in 2023-24. In other words, if you believe that 30 to 34 points will be Wembanyama’s largest output this season, then wager on the -1000 odds.

However, there isn’t any value in him scoring more than 30 points. We advise staying away from those Wembanyama odds. Instead, consider the 35+ points bet for your NBA betting strategy this season.

There will be at least one game where Wembanyama has a huge performance from the field. In his NBA debut, the 19-year-old rookie still managed to score 15 points despite getting into significant foul trouble.

Wembanyama was on the floor for only 23 minutes. Also, note that Wembanyama got off to a slow start. He didn’t find a rhythm until the fourth quarter. There will certainly be at least one game where he starts fast and ends the contest on fire from the field.

As Wembanyama continues to get more comfortable in the NBA, his point production should rise steadily. There will be some rough patches and games that will be learning experiences for the rookie, but he will largely impress in his rookie campaign.

We are betting on Wembanyama to average just over 20 points per game in 2023-24. Note that in just 20.9 minutes per game in the preseason, Wembanyama scored 19.3 points per game in four exhibition games¹⁰. There is quality value on this Wemby prop bet at +120 odds.

To Record 20+ Rebounds In Any Game

Wembanyama’s 7-foot-4 frame and eight-inch wingspan will help him immensely around the rim.

He has the talent to play from anywhere on the floor and have success. As we’ve seen during his European career, and NBA regular season debut, Wembanyama can play from the perimeter as a three-point shooter.

If Popovich wants him to play with his back to the rim in the paint, the Frenchman can do that efficiently, as well. In only one game, Wembanyama showed how versatile he can be as an NBA player.

He started his NBA career at the power forward position against the Mavericks. However, Popovich can experiment with him at center throughout the season.

All of Wembanyama’s rebounds in his debut were offensive rebounds. He ended with five rebounds in the 126-119 loss to the Mavericks. Despite not picking up a single defensive rebound, that will change in a hurry.

In fact, we have confidence in Wemby having a game where he turns into a rebounding machine. As the tallest player on the court, it will be difficult for him not to have a standout performance as a rebounder.

Wemby’s odds do not favor him having a 20+ rebounding game, but there is value at +250. All it takes is one game for this bet to hit. At these odds, we are willing to take a chance on one 20+ rebound game.

Victor Wembanyama Rebounds Per Game (9+ RPG)

There appears to be more value on the board for the Wembanyama odds at BetUS. Will Wembanyama average more than nine rebounds per game? Due to Wemby’s five-rebound game in his debut, there is value for this prop bet.

The public doesn’t have as much faith in Wembanyama averaging over 10 rebounds per game. However, that thinking is way too premature. Again, Wembanyama was plagued by foul issues against the Mavericks.

We do not foresee this being a recurring problem throughout the season. When Wembanyama is playing a full 30+ minutes per game, the points and the rebounds will add up quickly for the rookie phenom.

In his final season with the Metropolitans 92, Wemby averaged 10.4 rebounds per game. 8.4 of those were defensive rebounds, while the other two rebounds were offensive boards. In Wembanyama’s Summer League performance, he averaged 10 rebounds per game¹¹.

In limited work in the preseason, Wembanyama averaged 4.8 rebounds per game. He played just 20.9 minutes per game in the preseason, though. It wasn’t the most accurate barometer for what he is capable of as a rebounder in the regular season.

We are not interested in laying -155 odds on Wembanyama to collect fewer than nine rebounds per game. There is value on 9+ rebounds for this prop bet.

Victor Wembanyama 3+ Blocks Per Game

Wembanyama blocked one shot in his NBA debut. Wemby didn’t look like the shot-block machine that he was in Paris, but he’ll likely see a bit of regression from his LNB Pro A numbers.

Players are much savvier offensively in the NBA than they are from his experience in Europe. They are not going to fall into his traps as easily as less athletic players did in Paris. Nevertheless, Wembanyama should have a block party occasionally.

Getting to over three blocks per game is a major reach, though. Last season, Wembanyama averaged three blocked shots per game with the Metropolitans 92. We do not foresee him eclipsing that number in his first year in the NBA.

That said, Wembanyama will still have plenty of blocks, just not enough to average more than three a game. Wembanyama likely concludes his rookie campaign with 2.5 to 2.7 shots per game. That puts him below this threshold at three blocks per game, so “No” appears like the stronger wager.

To Record A Triple Double In Any Game

Wembanyama is going to record multiple double-doubles in his rookie season. That is not much of a question. As we’ve noted, Wembanyama is a multi-talented player who will do it all on the floor.

The Victor Wemby points are sure to accumulate rather easily on the stat sheet. Additionally, he shouldn’t have many issues cleaning up the boards with his eight-inch wingspan.

However, what about 10 assists, steals, or blocks in a game? It is going to be difficult. But, as Wembanyama’s court vision improves, he might flirt with 10 assists later in the season.

Duncan developed into a tremendous passer under Popovich’s tutelage. He could pass out of double teams and find a player cutting to the rim with relative ease.

Popovich hopes that he can teach some of those same traits to Wembanyama. Last year, his passing improved tremendously with 2.4 assists per game in Paris. The next step is becoming an elite passer.

It only takes one monster game from Wembanyama to record a triple-double. At +350 odds, it might be worth a flier. However, don’t invest too much of your bankroll in this wager.
