The Wednesday card looks pretty good for mid-week racing. There are stakes racing at Saratoga Race Course. It isn’t anything like what’s coming up this week. Saratoga has two marquee events this weekend.
We have picks at Saratoga Race Course this afternoon to go with Finger Lakes Racetrack. Finger Lakes has nine assignments worth $197,600 on the card. Head below for our best Finger Lakes Racetrack picks on August 24, 2022.
Race 2
Race 2 is a $17,300 event covering 6 furlongs on the dirt. Saratoga Kisses and Sweet Invasion are likely types to win the second at Finger Lakes.
Saratoga Kisses is a one-time winner in 13 attempts. She has finished 5th, 4th, 5th in her previous three starts.
In her latest start, Saratoga Kisses finished 5th for a $25,800 prize. Saratoga Kisses finished 4th in an earlier race on June 6 in the same grade. Look for her to be more competitive down in class.
Sweet Invasion is 2 for 6 and coming off a 1 ¾ length win for a $17,200 purse on August 3. The filly placed 2nd behind Prairie Tales by 2 lengths in the same class. I have confidence in her keeping on well in Race 2.
Race 3
The third event at Finger Lakes covers 6 furlongs on the dirt. Race 3 should feature Devil Or Angel and Codys Express at the wire.
Devil Or Angel is winless in eight attempts going into Wednesday. He’s finished 5th, 4th, 2nd in his previous three starts.
Three races ago, Devil Or Angel placed 2nd behind Raw Courage by 2 lengths in a $37,000 event on June 23. That was a nice showing.
However, in his latest performance, Devil Or Angel finished 5th on August 5 in a $42,000 race. A sharp class drop should put Devil Or Angel back in contention.
Codys Express has started three events, finishing 2nd, 6th, 4th in his career. He is coming off a strong effort on June 29.
Codys Express placed 2nd behind Shared Success by 2 ¼ lengths for a $32,100 prize. Well done for Codys Express after finishing 6th in a $90,000 event.
Look at the No. 6 to get this field from the outside and clear.
Race 4
Race 4 is a $24,000 event covering 1 1/16 miles on the dirt in this one. A Vow of Beauty and Uno looks like strong contenders.
A Vow of Beauty is 4 for 23 and finished 3rd, 2nd, 5th in his last three performances. He most recently completed a showed 3rd for a $24,000 race on August 10.
That wasn’t bad, but A Vow of Beauty placed 2nd behind Magnetron by a head in a $24,000 event. A Vow of Beauty is going to be involved again on Wednesday.
Uno is 4 for 10 and he’s coming on strong as of late. In six outings, Uno finished in the top-2 in five attempts.
He most recently defeated Our Man Mike by 8 lengths in a $26,700 assignment. Uno was coming off a big performance a few weeks earlier as well, placing 2nd behind Sneads by a neck for $26,000.
Uno likely has leading honors on Wednesday afternoon at Finger Lakes. Look for him to edge clear to the wire.
